Here's what happened: The proposed 2021 budget was $760 million. After recent changes, the proposed budget is now $727 million. That's a reduction of 4.5%. $33 million sounds like a lot, but the decrease is small in terms of percentage. Will some police employees lose jobs? Yes, but I don't expect a budget cut lower than 5% to have a major effect on crime.
