Woman kidnapped and murdered while jogging – Everything Law and Order Blog

in this episode of Crime Watch Daily Updates: On August 2, 2016, Karina Vetrano jogged without her father because his back was injured. Their lives would never be the same.

She left her home in Howard Beach, a neighborhood in Queens, New York, and ran in Spring Creek Park in the early evening. Surveillance footage first obtained by Crime Watch Daily showed her in the park at 5:46 p.m.

She failed to come home, and her parents grew worried. Karina’s parents and NYPD officers searched for the 30-year-old, and her father eventually discovered her body in some tall grass near the running trail.

Karina had been dragged, beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled, but there was DNA evidence on her back, under her fingernails, and on her cell phone.

In February 2017, New York Police retrieved a DNA sample from then-20-year-old Chanel Lewis, and it came back as a match. He confessed February 4, 2017, to killing Karina, and was then charged with her murder. Chanel went to trial in 2018, but the jury could not reach a verdict, so the judge declared a mistrial.

He stood trial again about six months later and was found guilty on April 1, 2019. Chanel was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Since the conviction and sentencing, more than 41,000 people have signed a petition asking the Queens District Attorney to reopen Chanel’s case and release him on bail, arguing there was prosecutorial misconduct and that his confession was coerced by police.

Now, let’s look back at the tragic case of a young woman brutally murdered while out for what should have been a peaceful summer jog.

  1. DNA UNDER HER NAILS MATCHED
    HIS DNA.
SHE WAS TRYING TO FIGHT HIM.
    😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
    BUT LOOKING AT HIM ?
    DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A MURDERER.
BUT, SO MANY DON'T.. NOW DO THEY.
    UNTIL THEY ARE CAUGHT.,

  2. Being set up just bc he is black. This woke race division crap is getting old. People always crying this makes it tough for when it actually does happen.

Some people are just criminals. One day they aren't and the next minute they are. Every criminal has to have a first crime. That's how it happened.

  3. DNA is an exact science. No matters what the sister said…if his DNA is under her nails and various places at the crime scene…then he is GUILTY. He belongs in Prison. No woman is safe.

  4. DNA match and confession in the Vetrano investigation came from a search tactic that was never disclosed in court, that evidence could be ruled inadmissible, and Lewis’s conviction could be overturned.

  5. He wanted to bring a knife to school to stab all of the girls?!
There seems to be an 'incel' pandemic amongst guys of the millenial and gen-z generation. I notice how many of them behave towards women, and I hear the disturbed, twisted misogynistic things they say. They act so mean and cold to females. The guys in my generation, Gen-X, were not this bad. They weren't perfect, but they had better attitudes than young guys today.

  6. They say he raped her.
But the prosecution provided no DNA of any sperm, which matched him.
The police never once mentioned his DNA matched on the rape test, as they would've performed a rape kit test on her.
Did the police say he used a condom or found any empty packets in the park?
No mention of any pills he was taking, or on.
Certain pills are given to people with a mental illness, and then stop them from getting erections.
I believe he's innocent, and in the future, when DNA has improved 1000%, then he’ll be released.
I hope the innocent Project Org in America, never gives up trying to free this guy.
If he had money, and a very good experienced lawyer, then I believe he’d have been found not guilty.
The police promised him things, while interviewing him, that if he confessed, then he wouldn’t get in trouble.
    Hours of the interview missing.
The police even showed a picture of a different person, seen in the area.
Very easy for the police to blame a mentally ill young man.
He doesn’t have the means to fight the case, but maybe in 20 years, then major advances made in DNA,then he might be found to be not guilty.
The father had alot of money, and was a very wealthy man.
How did he get so wealthy, when only working as a fire fighter.
He was Italian, and maybe working for the mob.
Looks like a mafia hit to get back at him.
Killing his baby, would hurt him more, then killing his wife.

  7. Let me tell y'all something Howard beach is racist af. They'll plant and attack any minority other than yt. Didn't two yt men kill her because her dad owed a debt to the … And took her for collateral. How did her dad tell her no to joining her for a jog but found her….

  8. I remember this case but the father knew where to look so there was a debate that time of the father story,he went straight to the area her body was at he didnt need to really search and they did pin them on the suspect when he wasn't walking through there he was in another area away from there. I remember the whole story that found

  9. Why does everyone especially black people have to play the race card. The sister said they framed him because he’s black, well ma’am is your brother the only black man? They could have framed any black person. Such ignorance is beyond me

  10. Something is not right here.
Months before a cop calls in a man being suspicious in the area then the night of karinas murder that same cop is the one investigating the crime. He then remembered Chanel being there months prior and decides let’s go to his house and question him? Definitely sounds like a set up to me

  11. I don’t care what color you are, if you commits a crime, you need to do the time, who are you to take a life you didn’t give pieces of shit they need to suffer the same faith

  12. The moment I heard about this case a few years ago and looked into it, I’ve always said that the father was somehow involved here. I stand by that and still believe so. That said, he has deep pockets, knows some serious important people and will never ever be looked into. Someone knows his involvement and I believe that person is his wife. Watch some of the interviews of him and his wife. His wife can’t look up when he speaks. She is absolutely afraid of her own husband and you can see if if you understand what a battered woman looks like. Idk why the father did it or was involved but I do feel his was and you’ll never convince me otherwise. It’s a sad story all the way around.
