  1. If an 18-year-old can't formulate intent, why do we let them vote? Or serve in the military? Or parent children? If we don't stop infantilizing people who are physically and mentally mature even if socially and emotionally they aren't, they'll never learn responsibility. And if the getaway driver can be charged with murder in a botched robbery where somebody else pulls the trigger, aren't all the rock-throwers equally culpable?

  2. I agree but sometimes when you know you’re innocent, you want to speak out you want to talk and at that point she didn’t know to keep her mouth shut. I am so looking forward to what Josh has to say

  3. Intent = started with just damaging parked cars and flipping golf carts. By the third time they did it, they had escalated to 9# pieces of concrete and rocks and throwing them at moving vehicles in the dark. I can totally see malice aforethought. And the other two guys involved got 30+ years in their so called deal.

  4. KR should not have done those interviews however, I still do not think John was hit by a car. As for those the three 18 year olds…they all knew that those landscaping rocks could cause bodily harm so I don’t understand two of them getting plea deals except for needing them to testify for the State.

  5. No one seems to remember that in that part of the country sometimes a question sounds more like a statement like in My Cousin Vinnie when the kids asked "I shot the clerk". It was a question, but it sounded like a statement and the cops thought they got a confession. I think that's what's going on here

  6. Before the first Karen Reid trial, all I knew was seeing her speak. I didn't believe her. At. All. I don't think it bodes well for her with the jury.

  7. How could those teenagers not know the consequences of throwing that large rock down onto traffic? It is not like they are 10 and throwing rocks just to throw them and accidently hit a car. Prosecutors just need to ask them this question: If you were to throw that same rock at someone's head while they are lying on the ground, what do you think the outcome would be? (Or better yet play that scene out on a dummy in court, oh how much impact would that be on a jury?) 1st degree murder? Yes, I absolutely could make an argument for that. Would it be better to go for 2nd degree? Yes, because it would be the easier charge to prove. What do they teach in law school? Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Just because three stupid people are doing stupid things does not make this a lesser crime.
As far as putting the full blame onto one person, or Who Threw The Rock????????? That doesn't matter. All three were there and all three were throwing rocks which means all three are guilty by association. It's the same as if you are the get away driver for a store robbery and someone is shot and dies because of that robbery you are still guilty of murder because you should have known that the death of someone could happen when some idiot has control of a weapon.

  8. I hate plea deals. At eighteen those teens must surely have known the probable consequences of what they were doing, so imo they should all be facing murder charges, or a lifetime in a mental health facility.
