Bountiful Police said a 15-year-old student suspected of firing a gun at Mueller Park Jr. High has been criminally charged, and they said it’s thanks to the actions of a student, teacher and the boy’s own parents that no one was seriously hurt or killed.

Wow. Now these are good parents, really. I mean. To call the police on your own kid(s) and take him/her down and get the police take your child to jail. This is really good actually. I mean. They just saved a lot of life's I think. Now to just get him help. If it means time in prison or whatever happens to him, I hope he thinks about how badly this could have ended and how really beautiful life actually really is and how easy life can be if you just stay calm, learn and take it one day at a time. People can be so much better. Congrats to these parents in a way but they still should have kept those guns safe and locked away. These parents just learned something very new and how really dangerous it is to keep their guns free and out in the open.
Only pussies shoot anyone else who cant shoot back 😂😂😂
OH EM GEE.
Wth omg this is insane. Thank God they noticed and thank God the kid listened to his parents and let them take the gun
The Kid needs professional help
These days ALL schools should have a medal detector… he shouldn't have been able to even walk in the school with those guns!
Smartest parents I've ever seen!
Those poor children should not have to feel this way at school. I couldn't imagine the horror moms and dads feel when you can't be with your child and you hear gun… Or active shooter😭
These parents did the right thing. They saw their son was acting strange, noticed the missing gun, and took action. They saved his life and countless others. Parents, always pay attention to your kids. Make sure you get them the help they need before it gets this bad.
So he pointed the gun at himself and gave it to Mom before the police even arrived. Poor kid needs serious help.
It's a difficult situation. On one hand he planned this crime by knowing what he was going to use for weapons but ended up pointing the gun on himself. I believe the kid has serious mental health issues. Get him the help he needs. No one was hurt or got killed. If you charge him as an adult his life is ruined over 1 stupid mistake. It's not worth ruining someone's life. There's already too many people incarcerated in the U.S. They give you 30+ years just for a robbery. The U.S don't play but they don't think either.
I wish they interview The cool police cop on a body cam… Good work 😽
Thank goodness his parents paid attention and actual noticed the signs they're son was acting different!
The lawyer with the blonde hair just wants to make an example of this young man as though he’s not deserving of intervention. Think about yourself at 15.
Hi Chris Hansen I love you thank you for these shows
Aw great ending! Cheers to those parent s and student who intervened
The blonde girl was dumb af. Wants him charged as an adult but still called him a “child”, the other girl on the other hand has a point. Fix it now. You don’t fix it now, his gonna go to jail, not learn his lesson. And probably shoot up a church or mall next.
Schools need to take accountability for the bullying that goes on. I’m not justifying his behaviour but this kid was at the end of his tether. He didn’t shoot anyone, he shot the ceiling then held the gun to his head. He was desperate. Would he have shot his peers if Mum and Dad hadn’t been so quick to react? No-one knows. It was a desperate cry for attention.
Hopefully he’ll see a forensic child psychologist whose analysis will determine his future. Personally I hope he’ll go to a juvenile facility and learn some important life and cognitive skills. Sticking him in general population of an adults prison only means he’ll get lost in the system.
Bullying can cause PTSD, kids can be cruel. I hope he’s given a second chance, unless his actions prove it inadvisable. The gun culture in the US is crazy, how can you not expect these things to happen when guns are treated as accessories rather than killing machines? The flippancy of owning guns astounds me. So how can you blame a kid, who’s been bullied and likely to have mental health problems, for his actions when there’s so much hypocrisy surrounding the ‘right to bear arms’ ?
4 years later and this is recommended to me. Such a crazy story.
I think he went in with the intention to harm others and probably end his own life but then decided against harming the others. Really just an extreme cry for help. It's crazy that the parents noticed the change that day but there had to be a difference in him leading up to this. I'm glad they realized obviously but I'm wondering if this boy needed help that he wasn't getting that maybe could have prevented this. I really don't think people just snap for no reason. There is always something leading to it whether it be bullying, trouble at home or abuse of some sort.
Also, the only reason his name wasn't shared was because a) he's a minor and b) he isn't dead
And on a final note: trigger locks people. Hell, I knew a guy that kept his guns in a safe and had a smaller safe in the safe with the ammo. You can never be too careful with guns.
15 and still in junior high?
Ok so I know I will be the bad person here but I would agree he should be sent to a juvenile detention center. He was severely bullied and has mental health issues . It is easy to say : lets just lock them all way and solve school shootings . But it would be a better approach to battle the problem by it's root . And decrease these incidents by offering resources to bullied kids or raise awareness.
he said they had a "Heart on".
The fact that the mom and the dad noticed their son was acting different and caught on right away shows they really did a good job!
Charge him as an adult! He was about to commit mass casualties! Take no chances. Lock him up and throw away the key! We've all been bullied in our lives. No excuse! High School is only 4 years and then you have your whole life!
God bless his parents for knowing their son well enough to notice something was seriously off. Think of all the lives they saved including his own. He was clearly in need need of professional help.
He should've been charged with attempted mass murder.
