In this episode of “True Crime News,” a former ballerina, Ashley Benefield, is sentenced to prison for the fatal shooting of her husband. Plus, what began as a desperate escape ends in tragedy when Marina Placensia’s family tried to rescue her from an abusive relationship.
She boarded a train to escape but didn’t make it off alive | Full Episode

To Marina’s Brother; You didn’t let her down, you are definitely a good brother. Let her rest in peace and go be a a wonderful husband dad & uncle God bless u all.
How dare they take seven years figure that out and convict that man. I hope for the sake of those kids he didn’t have access to them during that time to continue his abuse to them.
RIP Marina🕯️🤍💐🕊️
Please do a piece on the Ariana Ptarcinski murder case. I need to focus public attention on it so the Florida State Attorneys Office will reopen the investigation and also investigate the actions of the Sheriff's Office on the night in question. ⚖️
She lied from the get-go. She should've received more jail time.
Only 20 years 🤬
I understand why …because he is vengeful and think this way ‘ if I can not have her the way I want it , nobody will ‘ …..
Red flags alround 😢
Why do women go back in relationships where they are being abused? Neither Marina nor her family did enough, I think, to prevent what happened to her.
Very disappointed in one sided report on dancer.
You didn’t ask one person who was associated with the Ballet Company who knew them as a cpl.
Only a friend of dancer who has a skewed opinion
This is what happens when everyone wants a conviction at the expense of the truth
Why did the family let her travel with him???? 😒😒
I feel like that psychotherapist got way too personally and emotionally involved to be unbiased.
I am praying for her family and her loved ones. 🙏🏻
It’s really disconcerting that this therapist, a doctor, is out here breaking patient confidentiality…talking about private details of a couple’s relationship. And it’s appalling that she’d have a patient LIVE WITH HER!!! This woman should have her license revoked.
Douglas "Big Daddy" Benefield was not innocent either. Spousal abuse makes people do extreme things in response. They don't expect to be abused by those they thought loved them.
R. I P. Marina 🥀🪦💔🕯️🪽
she married him not for love and the whole time she faked cried
she should have gotten life that was premeditated no one has an empty house and a gun
Why is killing someone only 20 years in prison? This is so absolutely ridiculous that you can take some one's life and be out in less than 20 years (she will probably only serve 10-15 years with good time). Our justice system is such garbage.
✔️
She was looking for gold ( 💰💰💰), but for the first time in her life, this guy told her the truth about life and no, he was not going to be the pushover she wanted. She got her way. Made him disappear. She needs to be away for life. She knew Exactly what she was doing.
What an actress Ashley is 🙄
Wow….the reporter and the convicted lady looks alike.
Ashley the ballet dancer cried tearfully without a tear. She’s a dangerous manipulator.
4:33 4:44 lmaoooooo dooomed from the START
Tearfully? There were NO TEARS!!!
Eww
poor girl happened to meet this evil guy
Only 20 years for murder?? A joke.
Ana
i love watching True Crimes…..but the Narrator has a weird and loud annoying voice
it cant only be me who thinks that….
This guy is a scumbag
I can't believe they put her on a train with that guy and thought it would be fine.
Small correction, women didn’t see right through her…MOST women saw right through her…her therapist was completely fooled! That woman should have her license pulled…no therapist should be allowing a patient to live with them. Therapists are supposed to be objective…this one clearly doesn’t know what it is to be objective.
The first medical examiner failed TOTALLY in his job.
I have another question and that is why was she sat elsewhere on the train and not with her family.
People get angry and people you know get into other peoples faces
Which can make it look like it was self defence because you know if you get up in somebody’s face out of anger
Then they can use that as a way to say self defense, they can use that as a self defence claim
You know it’s really disgusting that some people would actually think that’s self defence
Because people can happen to people’s faces all the time and anger doesn’t mean
That they’re actually physically beating the other person up
Second one, dude looks like a douchebag. Shes not your possession.
Dr russell – did he have a gun, no. Doubt she was in "danger" maybe divorce and leave and quit putting your children in the middle of divprces theyrenot your toys to abuse either. Maybe you shouldnt have married him after 13 days. But you did and you killed him. Now the consequences are yours to do.
