The Alec Baldwin trial began Wednesday morning with an opening statement from prosecutor Erlinda Johnson. After she slammed Baldwin for “playing make-believe,” she said she believes Baldwin lied about not pulling the trigger of the gun used to kill “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Johnson continued to say that the gun didn’t malfunction on its own, claiming the trigger had to be pulled. The prop gun was later destroyed during FBI evidence testing. Baldwin’s defense rebutted the state’s claim in their opening statement, claiming Baldwin was doing his job as an actor and had no idea a live round was in his prop gun. The prosecution kicked off their case by calling first responders to the stand and having them testify about the day they responded to the movie set.

Baldwin’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison. A judge will rule on these issues after hearing motions from the prosecution and Baldwin’s defense. Baldwin was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter in January for the death of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

  1. I feel I need to say again that I was on props for an indie show when this horrible situation happened. I was a props trainee and only tried to explain how we were trained to treat any weapon as if it were real. Trainee is the key to this because we all treated the prop as if it were real. The actor did not even touch the prop other than wear the belt. Unless you have worked in the film biz ( myself over 30 years) you would not know the protocol which was followed on my show. Why do ppl always try to make other people look unprofessional in their craft is beyond me

  2. This officer Lefluer is doing a terrible job managing the witnesses. They are all standing around discussing the incident. He's also very timid on the stand. He seems scared to death to be up there. The defense lawyer is going to chew him up and spit him out

  3. When the reporter asked Gloria Allred her last name 😂😂😂😂 she was clearly shocked… then to go on asking if she’s a friend or family member…😂and it was at that moment when he knew … HE FUGD UP…
    😂😂🎉🤣
    (I’m 51 don’t come for me lol)

  4. The big cry baby got away with man slaughter, gee I wonder how much alec Baldwin paid to get away with it, mean while one girl is dead and another is sitting in prison, and Alec Baldwin gets away, alec Baldwin you are a coward, you let one girl go to jail, because of a gun in your hand, what a coward, by I believe in KARMA and she is coming to knock on you door, and your money can't buy your freedom, you call yourself a man, and you can't do 18 months in the country club prison, what a coward

  5. One thing we leant from Trump trials is how the 'defendant' looks to the jury is important e.g. remorseful or paying attention – I think I would find Alec Baldwin most irritating that he is not showing any remorse, he looks like he is busy doing 'whatever he is doing' and he looks like he is so engrossed in what he is doing, that he is not even listening…. oh dear…. pity

  6. I would like to know in the way of likes if Alec Baldwin should do time for his negligence, Im torn quite frankly. He has a reputation for being quite aggressive and mean, but that’s not the issue here, but karma has a strange way of rearing it’s head
