Six young, black girls were murdered in cold blood — but their killer has never been caught. “Parents have died not knowing who had killed their kids,” explained Washington, D.C.’s first female homicide detective Romaine Jenkins. She tells the haunting story of this horrifying in the latest episode of “The Case I Can’t Forget.”

This is my 1st time hearing this story So sorry to hear about what happened. Whoever killed them Never been caught. These families deserve justice
I remember. I was 13. Me and all of my girlfriends were nervous.
The same fibers found on these young girls were found on the young boys in Atlanta. Wayne Williams could not be the killer as he was 10 years old during the time of these murders.
Yeah OK wonder woman. You never even got close to catching the phantom.
aspects of this case are bone chilling…
There are recent developments. There may be a break in the case she on. An article in the recent article in The Washington City Paper details a possible new suspect.
It’s just so disgusting and disappointing to know that they destroyed 99% of the evidence around this case. These girls did not deserve this at all, and to know police did not care about them.
Maybe it's the same killer as the Child Atlanta Murders
Evidence was destroyed. Sounds like a police officer was involved . Hmmmm
What an remarkable woman
The detectives at the time of the murders dropped the ball big time.
They didn't care enough to make sure all case files and evidence were stored correctly.
Case files lost and evidence destroyed…bunch of idiots.
Some people shouldn't be detectives just like some doctors shouldn't be doctors, it's all for a paycheck and pure laziness.
They put in the time but they don't put in the work.
Someone must know something about the killer or killers. Parents might be dead but these victims may have siblings. Like to see this Detective solve these murders.
We know who most likely did this. BW would never talk to other races of men. This was someone from the community or police. Someone close. Watching the victims.
I really hate this happened and goes unsolved. I really do believe it could have been a former police or someone in clergy. Someone that these girls and their family knew. Perhaps someone in a nearby neighborhood. Did anyone think to link these murders to someone that lived close to the store? I am absolutely grieved about this
Thank you for your service I hope someday they will be justice
There's nothing more sad than the parents passing without knowing the final moments of their own babies. May these events weigh heavy on the soul of the perpetrator
I was a kid myself at the time and I lived in DC at the time and I knew Brenda Crockett and her family. They lived around the corner from us. Brenda rode her bicycle passed us as we sat on our porched. She paused for traffic and looked our way, smiled and waved at us and we waved back. Then she continued to the grocery store ….a Safeway on 14th and U if I recall. That was the last anyone in the neighborhood saw of her. I remember hearing her Mom roaming the area calling out Brenda's name. The police never investigated enough to the point where they spoke to us. No asking what was she wearing, no timeline, nothing.
Rumor had it that it was a police officer who committed these crimes as it appeared the girls/young women trusted the person to let them get close to them. Again, this was the rumor.
Thank you, Officer Jenkins for your service! I have been following this story since I was a kid in the early 80s (and following your progress and efforts as well). These events haunt me until this very day. I was a young child with sisters in the same age group as the victims, living in SE DC at the time. I am always so curious what the outcome was on the testing of DNA evidence found on Diane Williams. Seems the Maryland lab never released their findings/conclusions, not even to Jim Trainum or Yourself. I still suspect Robert Askins involvement. Thanks again for the hard and heavy hearted work you have put into this case!
I truly believe a cop did it
Social workers with a gun! Love that. She was really a beauty and a hero.
I hope people examine that note. Rounded, upper case A's. Rounded U's and V's with no tail on the u. Maybe someone's dad or grandfather wrote in this style.
Well he either locked up or dead. A killer like that don't just stop.
These poor girls never got to go home. 💔 Thank you for your service Mrs Jenkins. Great human ❤️
I'm guessing they have no DNA evidence.
