Mom of two Laurie Shaver will soon go to trial for her husband Michael’s murder. Shaver’s daughter, who was seven years old when police allege Michael was shot and killed, has testified that she was the one who shot her father. Another witness, a family friend, says the child revealed her secret to him years later. But the jury won’t hear his testimony at trial. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks down the decision as Shaver prepares for court.

  1. I can't imagine how a mother could even consider blaming her young child for this, most mothers would rather go to jail than see their child go through this.

  2. Pathetic to blame your 7 yr old daughter (at the time of murder) he was shot in the back of the head! An execution shot I would say he was probably sleeping at the time, she claimed her daughter shot him to protect her mother. What a bunch of BS…she is charged with 2nd degree…since she is blaming her 7 yr old they should give her 1st degree….if someone is shot in the bad of the head I would call that premeditated!

  3. Last time he was seen was 2015 so that was 9 years ago, so if he was murdered 9 years ago and the child was 7 means she is at least 16 years old now… Old enough to testify about the past and old enough to be tried as an adult although I would be absolutely stunned if they tried to charge her as an adult for something she did at 7 years old. But in my opinion she IS old enough to testify about what happened! After all isn't the TRUTH and true JUSTICE what this is all about?

  4. So many people on here claiming the child could not have done it because a 7 year old child couldn't have buried the body…. The lack of reading and listening comprehension of people on YouTube is downright SCARY! Where did they hear the child buried the father?…

And Where did she get the gun?
Probably right off the mothers nightstand! Right where the cops found it later on! Unless it was the fathers gun then it probably was on his!
Personally, I keep mine right where my father kept his, under my pillow! I knew where my BOTH my parents kept their guns and I knew how to use them by age 6.. At one time that was NORMAL in the US and surprisingly child gun accidents were FAR more uncommon then then they are now!

  5. Anyone who thinks a 7 year old is incapable of doing exactly what she claims she did has never lived through an abusive parent! The cops found that pistol ON THE MOTHERS NIGHTSTAND… Which is probably where it was when this girl was 7 years old, as they said it was the MOTHERS pistol not the fathers. At 7 years old I was already a year older than when I had shot my first buck, I was pretty accurate with a pistol too and knew my fathers .45 was hanging on the bedpost in his room when he was not wearing it, along with many other weapons in the home.

Children killing abusive parents happen a LOT more than people think! And children with abusive parents tend to grow up a LOT faster than children who don't. I personally think they need to have this girl talk to some professionals about this and try to see if there is some truth to her statements. The Child could have killed the father and then the mother could have tried to cover it up to protect the child or out of fear she would be taken from her or just out of fear SHE would be accused of the crime anyhow.. The important thing is finding out the TRUTH of what really took place and not allowing the girls testimony smacks of dishonesty on the part of the government! What are they hiding? It's surly not trying to protect the girls identity, that is already out there. It just reeks of something being covered up or the government just trying to get a quick conviction and get it done with!

  6. This lady is something else. To blame it on someone else in general is nuts but to blame it on your own child complete sickening and sad!

  7. He starts another relationship and she reports him. Yet he is an abuser according to her? Smells to high heaven like lies. Even if he pled guilty to something, many do just to take some deal that means little to no jail time.
She had all the control. If he put a foot wrong he could have gone to jail because she would be believed to be a victim. Yet she reports him and the other women to the school…. nope.
