Dashcam Captures Dealership Staff Joyriding Corvette, Picking Up Woman

John Parrish, the owner of a Corvette Z06, recently took his vehicle to a dealership for service. However, he was surprised to find out that two dealership employees had taken his car for an unauthorized joyride, captured on the car’s dashcam. The footage revealed the employees driving at high speeds and even picking up a woman during the drive. Understandably, Parrish was upset by this breach of trust and the potential risks posed by the employees’ actions.

  1. I had taken my 1986 Jeep Comanche to get the transmission fixed. It took the mechanic almost a month to get it back to me. I live in a small town and my brother saw it being used by the mechanic moving furniture!

  2. I worked at a dealership as a transporter meaning I’d arrange for inventory to be picked up at the rail yard and get them to the lot. Occasionally the service department would ask if I would test drive vehicles they had repaired and told me the work done. I’d take a short trip, make sure everything was up to par then bring it through the car wash and get it ready for the owner. One day they gave me the keys to a Buick Grand National and I couldn’t help myself. I came back to the dealership with the biggest grin on my face ever and said to the tech…”she’s better than fine”. The tech shook his head because he knew.

  3. I never cared when I still owned a car if a mechanic decided to go to MacDonalds during the post repair test ride, but I do not want someone speeding for a joyride or have a non shop employee in the car.

  4. I was a mechanic then as I aged did service writing. Never ever did I abuse a customer car. In fact when asked to test a super charged mustang under loads I did. When I got back to the shop I told the boss it performed perfect and exactly how I tested it. He said no..Really get it hot and use all its power. The area we were would not let that happen. I refused to go harder.

  5. So learn to work on your own car genius. Everyone wants a car but cant take care of. And everyone knows dealerships use the cheapest motor oil possible 😂😂. Why would you ever go to the dealership

  6. Driver was promoted to the Finance Dept because they liked his get up & go!!! People don't understand how awful car dealers are. Its like Animal House with wrench's.

  7. the main dealer I used to take my car to used to disconnect my dashcam whenever it went in. I don't think they ever took it out, (not even when they should have done a road test), but I always found it a bit odd.

  8. Just left a review on their google search result with a link to this video. Their current rating is 4.2/5 so more people need to review them to expose their actions and most importantly the fact that nobody was held accountable.

    Modern Chevrolet, Burlington NC.

  9. I worked at a dealer and 4 different guys took out a guys sports car and for an hour they raced it after putting a new clutch in it, When the guy asked why there was so many extra miles on it they said the 1 guy who did the work had to break it in and run all the gears,

  10. Let corporate hear about it, I'd bet the heads of GM might take some action on this dealership if it's brought to them & the publicity your getting from this video & the dealership doing absolutely nothing to those involved so pretty much condoning this behavior.

  11. I would have sued, I would have charged him $1,000 for every mile he put onto my car just like if you were in an accident and they call the ambulance to come and get you how much do they charge you without you knowing! They had no business taking that car out!

  12. Seeing a video like this and then NOT hearing that he's sueing them is aggravating. The only way crap like this stops is when they feel the sting in their wallets. I wouldn't blame the employees….you need to make sure the Dealership pays financially….then THEY will definitely make sure their employees don't do this again. As the video ends…it doesn't seem like the dealership cared at all what the employees did….it probably happens frequently. The manager was only upset they picked somebody up.

  13. It's hard to stop. The majority of 'mechanics' in these dealerships are apprentices or 'trade assistants' (not qualified mechanics) with only a few actual mechanics signing off on the work. So the person working on, then test driving your car is highly likely to be young or uneducated. Of course they're going to flog your car. The only way to avoid this is to inform your service advisor that you have noted down the KMs, the tyre tread etc and that your dash cams will be running.

You should have seen what we used to do with the police cars that had the Barra Turbo…lol

  14. You really cant trust anybody to do work on the cars you've worked hard for. That Is why I do work on my own for things needed to be done. Not only does it save you money, you save a lot from service fees for labor charges too….. Wifes 2018 honda civic the stealership wanted $1,098 after taxes, to replace a starter and quoted it would be $500 for the starter. I told her NOOOO Bought one off amazon for $145 and did the swap myself in less than 3 hours. Still starts like a charm.
