  1. Like the owner said, he could have just backed up and closed the gate. Dogs usually leave you alone if you leave their space/territory.
If you enter a house and a dog is protecting the property, you can just LEAVE. I seriously doubt the dog was holding the officer hostage. Cops shouldn’t be hopping fences with dogs CLEARLY in the yard, that’s KNOWINGLY putting yourself in a dangerous situation. Completely unnecessary.

  2. The child who they were looking for was found an hour before this dog was murdered. The cops failed to communicate this. The cop should have never been in that backyard.

  3. As a former LAPD officer back when we were cops and not social workers, most of us came from backgrounds that included dogs. We did not shoot dogs for charging up to us. Utah officers generally have a poor reputation for judgment. That officer needs to go as does the supervisory personnel that gave lame justifications for the shooting.

  4. I wish people wouldn’t leave their pets outside unsupervised. This is a problem for me. However, this dog DIDN’T deserve this reaction. Period. Well deserved money for that trauma.

  5. Soo this whole shit could have never happened. The stupid snot nosed kid was found in his own house because his irresponsible parents (yes irresponsible) couldn’t keep in eye on him. That is most definitely far from adding salt to a scar

  6. Do these dipstick cops not carry pepper spray? My uncle works for the post and has had many dogs come after him over the years. He has had to use his pepper spray many times and it has always been effective. So what the fuck?

  7. I don't blame Geist's owner for being pissed I would be pissed too if a police offer came to my home went into my yard and killed my pet I would react the same way that Sean did and the officer should have just backed up and closed the gate and this would've never happened in the first place. Sorry is not going to bring Geist back, honestly the officer who shot Geist should have been there to apologize to Sean for his actions and for killing Sean's dog
