Cop Shows Up at Yard Sale, Detains Man on His Porch for 45 Minutes (without a warrant)

In Bowling Green, Kentucky, a man and his girlfriend were trying to have a yard sale when police officers from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Bowling Green Police Department appeared and accused them of shoplifting, due to there being multiple duplicate items for sale on the tables in the front yard. Despite not having a warrant, the officers refused to leave, detaining a man and attempting to interrogate him on the home’s front porch for over 45 minutes.

  2. They go for the low-hanging fruit because they expect the people to be submissive and it will be easier for them to make a charge/arrest. Dealing with the real criminals is too much work for them and they don't get their ass kissed as much.

  3. Apparently the Police never heard of Penny items at Dollar general where they sell many items for one cent from the app so people buy dozens of them and resell them. Because they are idiots. Take your pictures and leave. Potentially lol

  4. What a waste of taxpayers money! sounds like this town has no crime..Could you imigine them going to a giant swap meet and asking if the sellers had reciepts for their inventory…? This is just totally rediculous! At least this guy knows his rights!

  5. Where's your warrant? Get off the property. Where's your warrant? Get off the property.
Where's your warrant? Get off the property. Where's your warrant? Get off the property.
Where's your warrant? Get off the property. Where's your warrant? Get off the property.

  6. Call the cops and tell them a man with a gun is on your property and wont leave. Also, if theyre illegally trespassing and refuse to leave, at some point castle doctrine kicks in. Make porkchops.

  7. My question is at what point can you forcefully grab them and throw them off your property legally if they refuse to leave and have no legal right to be there ? Now of course they are gonna be cowards and gang up on you beat you taze you and cuff you even though they are breaking the law. But I Woukd still like to know cuz dam would it feel good to put my hands on a officer who won't get off my property!!

  8. So has anyone complained to Bowling Green about this harassment of this citizen? Phone calls work wonders. To the Mayor? Local TV stations? Sherriff or Police Chief? Disgusting condescending attitudes and ego overflow. Complain! Complain! Complain! Be heard!

  9. General suspicion doesn't seem to raise to the elevation of reasonable suspicion. A red bike stolen recently ends up in a yard sale would be reasonable suspicion. It would be reasonable to assume that it might be the stolen bike. But if a store hasn't reported specific items stolen like shampoo, toothpaste or whatever, then there can be no reasonableness to new items at a yard sale. Like I said, general suspicion isn't the same as reasonable suspicion. The cops were just on a fishing expedition.

  10. Dont you know you are guilty until proven innocent! These jack boot thuge should lose their qualified immunity and be sued and charged with violation of rights
