  1. I'm sorry but what the hell is that trick smiling at the end? This is why I'm convinced that TV personalities are out of their freaking minds what about what you just said constitutes a smile?

  2. For those asking why the friends left, they were likely going out and figured she was actually with the guy, without her screaming out to them how are they going to know? sure you can say that you would have stayed to check on your friend or maybe called the cops but you don't know what you do in that situation, especially if you're on your way to doing something else and you don't know what you would do in her situation either, because clearly she was either too afraid to say anything or was threatened, for all you know they forgot to mention that her mouth was covered, obviously there was no screaming otherwise they likely would have done something. Nor does anyone know how loud it was in the place at the time, also it said apartment didn't it? I don't remember them saying frat house. Lastly and most importantly, the thoughts and opinions of those who like to victim blame even if they themselves are a victim… do not matter and that should tell you something, even if you also have been raped and you have the stance that you should have gone to the cops, you should've done this, you should have done that, your opinion is irrelevant most especially if you've never been attacked, because everyone's experience is going to be different, everyone's reaction is going to be different and if all you can do is come up with every excuse in the book to blame a woman for being attacked then you are just a pathetic excuse for a human being and you should come to terms with that before putting crap up here that is completely ignorant.

  3. Wow. One year for assaulting two women? That is not justice. Especially since he was a repeat offender and had multiple offenses outside of the two women who pressed charges. That's a slap on the wrist.

  4. So in other words if you are a college student you get 1 year in jail. But if you are not a college student you get 20 years to life in prison. This is what is wrong with this government and the law in the law in this country. One for one set of people and a different one for another set of people.anypne out their want to say I am wrong just look at this case prime example

  5. As a man I feel so terrible for her. Not sure what me being a man has to do with my sincerity, as a human I feel terrible for her to have had this happen…. Not even knowing her and just me being and feeling like a protector and a bully slayer of sorts ever since I was a young boy as far back I can remember. I feel this burning want to have somehow been there to pull him off and actually wishing/hoping I would lose control and beat him to the brink of death. I don’t have tough guy syndrome and don’t have violence issues but I’ve also been blessed with confrontational/physical interaction syndrome. I think of my young daughter and I can’t even imagine. She shows such resilience and honor. What a fighter

  6. This isn't PTSD.. Ptsd is a uncontrollable reflexive response to social triggers. What this man did was premeditated. He manipulated the situation and used the military history as a pawn. This is classic sociopathy

  7. Elizabeth Smart speaks 3 words at a time. Slowly. Her manner and facial expression—there seems to be only one—makes me think of a friend you just disclosed a secret to and you immediately regret telling her.

  8. This guy gets 1 year for raping 2 women? Unbelievable. And he's raped more, he only got in trouble for 2. He should be doing life. 1 year will not rehabilitate this fool. He's going to do it again, now he thinks it's ok to rape and he'll just get a slap on the wrist for it. This countries justice system disgust me.

  9. I wonder if the defense attorneys daughter was raped, would he think of it the same way? "You probably wanted it and now you regret it, it's not rape!"

  10. i don't believe guys who say, "i saw some bad stuff while in the military."
he was probably nowhere NEAR any actual fighting.
the people who go through it don't brag about it, and they damn sure don't use it as a pickup line.

  11. Poor thing…seems like she got too drunk and ended up in a situation. Guys, especially frat guys at a party in their element, see every girl as a potential conquest. I think everyone kind of knows what to expect. Drink responsibly and avoid "date rape". Simple in this case. And most importantly, have good friends who elevate you and encourage your confidence! People with low self esteem are easy targets for narcissistic people.

  12. Had too rewind couldn’t believe 1 year thought I miss herd I’m man I feel sick 1 year fucking joke chop his balls and all off should be a law and jail for 20 years atleast if I was a judge giving him that would be me been nice that man makes me sick even I’m sry too all women out there having too deal with men like this but remember we are not all like him and I’m so sry for what happened and I’m angry and love too so the chopping no joke

  13. Here is the issue I have…Was due process followed? The accused, guilty or not, has every right to deny and dispute the charges against them and fight to win his case. This is not about disbelieving the women, but having laws in place to make sure the road to justice is fair (that's right, fair, not equal, not even, but fair). And here is why…

    1. There are people out there who do things they may not intend while they are drunk, and the lawyer is right, it does not make it rape or sexual assault. And this is held DOUBLY true if BOTH parties have been drinking.
    2. There are girls and women who do have regret for some reason, maybe they cheated on a significant other, maybe they hooked up just to feel better, or maybe their image could not get an unwanted change, etc. (this goes for boys and men too) A person should not be punished because of their regret.
    3. There are girls and women who do lie about the sexual encounter for whatever reason, again maybe to coverup their misdeed, because their feelings are hurt, or to actually set someone up for their gain.

All these roads and avenues must be followed so that justice can be served. And again, justice is about fairness, not feelings or thoughts or opinions. It is 1 part evidence and 2 parts good storytelling.

So, again, I think most campuses DO listen to those who make claims of sexual assaults, but they also have to look at making sure the claims are valid and this means the accused gets rights as well to defend themselves, and if justice cannot fairly punish the accused, then why should they be punished because justice happened to fall on the side of the accused?
