Bodycam: Ohio Deputy Rescues Elderly Man from Propane-Fueled House Fire in Broad Daylight

A Summit County deputy rescued a 92-year-old man by carrying him out of a burning house on May 10. Authorities said the deputy also assisted several other adults and the family dog. Some of the residents did not want to leave the house but a reason was not given as to why. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation. The sheriff said a propane tank near the house caused the fire.

  1. I dont give a D— if dogs, pets aren't human, THEY STILL MATTER, THEY ARE FAMILY, FOR THOSE THAT ACTUALLY CARE FOR THEM, i would have saved my babies, or died trying.

  2. To all the people who made negative comments about the officer: his first priority is humans, once that is taken care of they will take care of animals if possible and safe. If he saved animals before people, he would be fired, sued and prosecuted.

  3. I'd rather die than be a coward who left my dog to die. Its disgusting to see people who think that its ok for them to die as long as all the humans make it out.

  4. great work by the Cop…we need more like you. I hate it when people tell us (FD) why did it take you so long…well ma'am it actually only took 4 minutes….remember us the next time a bond comes up for a vote for new equipment, personnel, or a station. smh

  5. For all of you stating, proudly, that you would rush back in to get the dogs,….you are putting yourself and your rescuers in mortal danger. I know how our pets are family, I'm like that. But not worth losing your life or the life of another human rescue person

  6. God be with You always, Thank You for putting Yourself second, and running into danger for others. John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

  7. I don't have a dog I have a cat but I'm gonna tell you right now I don't care if the house is burning up in flames I would run in for her to me she's family to me and I love her so much I know that my safety matters but so does hers.

  8. I completely understand peoples concern for there pets but if you can't get them out with you. just dont go back for them. GET OUT Human life is more valuable than animals, I hate to say it but its the truth. PLESE if you ever have a fire get PEOPLE out first and grab pets on the way out IF SAFE if it is burning bad or the house is full of smoke. DO NOT GO BACK IN it is never EVER worth it!

  9. I wish there was subtitles i cant understand what ppl are saying. I wanna know why they're goin on front and etc
2:12 the ladies face is not blurred
2:30 and his face isn't blurred
Why bother blurring faces if there's moments of not blurry faces?
3:08 'it sucks for the dogs' if u're too afraid to go back in and save dogs, u could've at LEAST prop the door open for them to not be trapped in a burning house
I know the officer is trying to focus on the ppl but he has to realize ppl don’t want their pets to die. They should've grabbed the dogs while they were in the house since when officer arrived he was in side of house that wasn't on fire.

  10. My grandfather was in a house fire too…the police didn't know he was in the house… luckily a neighbour told them or else he wouldn't be here today.

  11. The officer did an excellent job of handling the situation. The people were not aware of the extreme danger of the situation and the woman was being emotionally delusional about her dogs. Unfortunately fire departments don’t place a priority on educating the public about fire danger and planning ahead for escape. They have convinced the public that they will be able to rescue them when in fact people must save themselves.

Plan your escape. Know who will help those who can’t get out on their own. Plan how you will get animals out and where you will safely put them while emergency services are on your property. Take a cell or cordless phone outside to call 911 AFTER YOU GET OUT. DO NOT GO BACK INSIDE THE HOUSE. If you live in an area served by a volunteer fire department it may take longer for them to respond (which may have happened in this situation).

Again, the officer did a remarkable job.

(Deborah Gregson, former Fire Educator, Guilford County Fire Marshal’s Office, NC)

  12. The officer is very terrible and was so mean to the dogs. Come on officer!! You said you don’t care about the dogs at all!! That was a very mean thing for you to say sir!!The dogs were a part of the family too and they deserve to live and to be safe just like the rest of the family members!😂😂
