Alex Murdaugh Locked Up for Killing Wife and Son — Full Sentencing Recap

Alex Murdaugh Locked Up for Killing Wife and Son — Full Sentencing Recap

The jury wasted no time in convicting Alex Murdaugh on Thursday of murdering his wife and son in June 2021. The next morning, Judge Clifton Newman dressed down the disgraced lawyer before sending him to prison with two consecutive life sentences for the killings of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh. After court ended, key players that helped lock up Murdaugh spoke with the Law&Crime Network about their role in the case and their opinion of the disbarred South Carolina attorney. Mark Tinsley, an attorney for Mallory Beach’s family, explains why he believes the deadly boat crash involving Paul Murdaugh triggered a chain reaction that ultimately led to his father killing him. Sidebar host Angenette Levy Sidebar and Tinsley recap key moments from the last 24 hours of Alex Murdaugh’s family murders trial.

  1. Opioids do not, for the most part, cause people to commit heinous crimes. In fact, use of these drugs results in reduced heart rate, slowed pulse and an overall depressant effect on the system. To be clear: this guy is a tremendously guilty POS, but it had nothing to do with opioid use.

  2. He has to have money and a lot of it to buy his drugs . He is in desperate need of funds. So you will kill to get life insurance. But you won’t kill to not be sued for 10, million what is the difference ?

  3. A STATE SENATOR of course has no conflict of interest in being private counsel. And he also has tons of free time to prepare and lead this high profile trial.

  4. Any murderer would get in SC the DEATH PENALTY for these crimes. But Murdaugh will serve only a few years after he will get a PARDON from the governer/president!

  5. I think cell phone video of him being at the scene 4 minutes before the murders is pretty good forensic evidence… His lawyer should probably get with the times because the cop standing behind Alex certainly is 😏

  6. I can only imagine what was going through the Judge's mind while he was having to listen to this case. For weeks he heard about this monster that shot his son's brains out, and the Judge lost his own son and would probably give anything to have him back.

  7. Judge to killer, "your statement of denial ..for the court… perhaps you believe it does not matter for the sentence of what you committed" So eloquent and profound!

  8. A lot of people in South Carolina our safe today with this monster locked up. Now they need to investigate his other son and his brother and even his father. This was a crime family and Maggie is included in that too. The bankers some of these other people conservatories or whatever they are they all need to be investigated

  9. The few minutes while Waters spoke about Maggie and Paul were very telling in my opinion. Through the entire trial, every time Maggie or Paul were mentioned, AM INSTANTLY started crying, wiping his eyes and nose constantly. This time, nothing. Not Even so much as a red eye! The jury did their job and did it well!

  10. Evil spawn rot!! Where he belongs⚖🇺🇸 appeal 😂 good luck murderer. Rest in peace sweet Maggie and Paul ✝️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 MR WATERS WAS AMAZING!!

  11. When Waters asked him on the stand about the Dogs. Were they barking or acting up like they could sense something or someone they didn’t know was close ? Were they just doing what dogs do when they see or sense a stranger ? No Mr. Waters there was No one Else out there , There was nothing for them to sense. Waters said “ oh okay well that’s good “ !! So now he has admitted his alibi is a complete work of fiction and lies and there was No one Else except for the three people we heard on the video. For me that was a solidifying fact that this monster is guilty

  12. The interview with Mr. Tinsley was Fantastic !! This gentleman is an absolute professional and I’m very confident saying that I would Not want to face him in court !😅! Seems like a good guy and looks great for having been through his own personal health issues and I think if anything it made him even smarter 👍🏼😎💯🎯. Good luck Sir
God Bless and prayers for Mallory Beach’s entire family and friends.

  13. Personally I think it would be difficult to find twelve people who would all vote guilty for a D Sentence without the weapons and witnesses, I think this was the best course of action for the Prosecution Team and the entire community and State of SC !!

  14. Did this jury do their job? I don't think so. What was the evidence, where is the weapon? Do you think you should be convicted based on being in the area? He didn't have anything to gain by their deaths. He's a piece of work no doubt. He will appeal but his coffin was sealed by the financial thefts. I think he loved his son. What a waste of lives.

  15. Trying to find out something concerning the dog kennel video. So, was the video being discovered a surprise or were they looking for a video that Paul's friend had informed them that he was expecting and never received? When did they retrieve the video? When was it presented to the Grand Jury? When did the defense find out about the video and when were they able to see it? When was the 1st time Alex found out about the video and when did he first see it? AND I wonder if they only got to hear it 1st or also saw the video. I know it was brought up in court on Feb. 1, 2023. However, I don't remember it being submitted into evidence. Seems like the State just presented it to the witnesses.

  16. i´m not really an advocate for the death penalty but in this specific case it would've been probably acceptable, as he's most certainly relieved to be out of his stressful web of lies and can live a stressless live in prison, free of any responsibilities for the rest of his life.

  17. I have a question… what ever came about with the “b*mb threat” that was called to the courthouse in the judges chambers?? Any arrests? Does it just disappear?? Because Alex, that day when he was told about it, sure as heck grinned that evil grin as if he knew about it. And even if he didn’t, he freaking grinned at the mention of a threat to a courthouse and the judge presiding over his trial! He’s an evil evil man!

  18. To learn MUCH MORE about this evil creep, listen to the phenomenally gifted and wonderful 🙏😍LIZ CROSS's 2 readings on him, and others involved, on her LIZ CROSS channel, and an earlier reading on CHANNELING ERIK channel. I trust LIZ implicitly! 👌

  19. I wasn’t following the case but right now I just found out that his son has trial coming up for boat accident that killed a young girl so it was possible DUI WAS THAT EVER MENTION IN TRIAL?

  20. It doesn't appear that Alex is a bit concerned still about his conviction. He's either stoic or arrogant. Either way, he looks relieved and his "ACT" to rock & wail up seemed to have stopped as well. Go figure.

  21. I’ve watched the case from the very beginning and any trial I missed due to time difference (I’m in the UK) I caught the next day. I thought he was guilty even before the trial started. Why? Because he never demanded police look for the killer/s, when he did there was a time limit on the reward he offered. Then the video clinched it. He was there and told the very first police officer that arrived he wasn’t (so his excuse for lying was invalid).
I sincerely hope that all the other victims of his crimes get their day in court.
Despite whatever Paul had done he didn’t deserve to die the way he did at the hands of his father…the boy came good in the end
(I’d also like to say thank you to the masses of strangers I’ve discussed this trial with the last 6 and bit weeks here on L&C)

  22. The first time I heard Harpootlian mention that 99 times out of 100 quote (at around 10:46 ) I had thought he was talking about circumstantial cases in general, but considering he was specifically referencing death penalty cases, I would agree with his assessment there.
