A real evil stepmother: Man sets fire to escape after 20 years of captivity

On the night of Feb. 17, police and fire departments in a Connecticut city rushed to Kimberly Sullivan’s home to put out the flames. Inside, they discovered a house in disarray, and rescued her adult stepson, who appeared emaciated and missing most of his teeth. The man claimed he had been held captive for 20 years and that he set the fire himself in order to escape her house of horrors.

    The birth mother needs to hold some responsibility. This is her child. All she had to do was go to the police and request assistance in finding her son. No excuse!

    I'm sorry but presumed innocent in this case…no way. Guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. Also, the system failed this boy BIG time who then became a man who was victimized for decades.

    Poor man. Failed my his father. As for his mother she was a no show. Had she shown some interest in seeing her son then she could have seen there was something wrong.

    One of the most horrifying torture cases i have ever heard. Oh my goodness. There isn't a recovery program designed to address such abuse. I hope his brain isn't permanently damaged from malnutrition. I hope he can have a safe, free, and healthy life.

    Another DCF failure! Children are victims of divorce and used as weapons, and people question why women stay in abusive relationships with kids? It's a lose lose situation! This is disgusting! Stop using kids as weapons folks!

    3:40 so why did the biological mom have to give up custody? Was she not allowed visitation or to know where he was living? If she really was looking for 14 years, he would’ve been 17 at the time. Why not file a report w/ the NCMEC, find the wicked stepmother on social media, reach out to her dead husband’s other family…?! I have so many questions 😒

    … And this wicked evil woman has pets!!!! How horrific after what she did to this poor young man. There’s a reason stepmothers are portrayed as evil in Walt Disney movies. My dad’s second & third wives are/were both absolutely vicious to me growing up and beyond into my mid life adulthood. Some stepmothers despise children from a previous marriage and treat them terribly. I’m from my dad’s first marriage. I survived 2 of these monsters. My prayers go out to this poor young man… her innocent pets… and anyone else this wicked woman harmed or killed.
