My story is similar, but I am lucky to be alive. we started dating in 12th. Things were great, until he developed a drug problem after graduation and a monster was born. I went to college and had a bright future, he did not and was jealous. He was 6’4/over 200lbs and I was 5’5/115lbs .. he overpowered me every time, even though I fought back and busted his nose once. The last physical incident happened in the parking lot of our job before our shift. He stole my car to go buy drugs.
I staggered into work bleeding and bruised and my coworkers were angels. They called 911, comforted me and took photos for the police.
He was arrested and let out within a month with a bogus restraining order. I had to face him in court, the judge lied and said he would be on the video monitor from the jail. Yet he was there with smug grin. The judge said she “wished she could do more” but he completed his 30 days. She issued a restraining order, which does nothing. He stalked me years until I answered my door with my friends Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson by my side and he finally left me alone.
