Hundreds of women are part of a lawsuit against Dr. David Broadbent, a gynecologist who has allegedly abused patients at his Provo, Utah office for decades. The lawsuit was allowed to move forward after the state’s Supreme Court determined that “sexual assault is not health care” and does not qualify for a medical malpractice claim. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner spoke with the attorney behind the civil suit, Adam Sorenson, and one of the alleged victims, Brooke Heath.

49 thoughts on “200+ Women Accuse Utah Doctor of Sexually Assaulting Them at OB/GYN Appointments”
  1. That's why my OBGYN is always a female!! I can't talk to a man about my woman problems!! I don't care how much "experience" they have, i need someone that has had a period too!!

  2. This needs to be evaluated at every hospital in every state, immediately: because I know for a fact that it occurs in many other places besides Utah.

Hospital systems need to be proactive, not reactive.

  3. This attorney is MY KINDA MED MAL ATTORNEY! Bravo. Thank you Adam. Takes a strong person to put such a drastic case together.

  4. The Utah Bar Association needs to immediately look into the judge that initially dismissed this case.

  5. Larry Nassar who had 1,200 victims also conducted his "adjustments" with a parent in the room at times. He simply had developed techniques to perform his "penetrations" without detection. If it had not been for the relentless publishing by the Indiana Star newspaper it is unlikely any investigation would have taken place. This is even after the FBI had been badgered to accept the responsibility to investigate and completely dropped the ball. After the publicity and attention turned to University of Michigan due to Nassar several Doctors were also found to be accused (many multiple allegations) from this campus and facility.

  6. As a male with a wife, daughter, 3 sisters, and a mother, A. never ever trust a male gynecologist and B. never understand why a male doctor would even think to consider that practice.

  7. I had a doctor like this when I was a child that gave me my 1st Pap smear… for a long time I thought that Pap smear were done by fingering the patient… 😭

  8. Classic.. oh the Dr is at it again
    It’s like the 5th complaint
Ah sensitivity training he makes the hospital too much money and helps us reach the metrics

  9. Oh my goodness, another freak doctor what is wrong with them. They ruined their practice, their livelihood, their reputation and everything. What for a cheap thrill?😮

  10. 200+ victims and hardly any comments and view on this one? Where is everyone lol. Where are all the calls for insane punishments and lawsuits against everyone??

  11. The women also consistently reported that nurses in the room didn’t intervene. One woman claims in the suit that after Broadbent painfully groped her genitals, “The nurse just rolled her eyes, asked if he was done then quickly left.”

  12. It is wrong that he used his position in a health care provider business to weaponize the care.
Not ok. Traumatic gaslighting in a controlled setting. I have more empathy for the women who hadn't known what properly is to be her right to expect.

He knew who would be more easily used in his business. Targets were set on a bed for him.
He will forever now be a target.
