A gun and blood are found at the crime scene. An important question for the investigators: Was the victim shot with this weapon? Molecular ballistics can make a decisive contribution to the investigation.
When blood is discovered, a series of tests must be performed. First and foremost, it must be determined whether it came from a human or an animal. If it is clearly human blood, the blood is tested to determine whether the blood came from the victim or the suspect. Investigators also analyze bloodstain patterns. These patterns are: Drip stains, blood dripped in blood, splattered blood and so on.
