Eugene Howard is a newcomer to Earl “Kareem” Smith’s group in Hard Times.
When he entered the prison system, Eugene Howard joined a gang. Now he is looking for a way and finds it in religion. In Hard Times, Eugene Howard is now on his way to accepting his past and changing his future. He assaulted another inmate. Now he has to face Earl “Kareem” Smith.
For now, Eugene Howard is allowed to remain in the group. However, the assault of another inmate is a troubling sign—a sign he might be falling back into old patterns. Old patterns and behaviours improved Eugene Howard, who is now back in solitary confinement. After days in solitary confinement, Eugene Howard is released back into the general population in Hard Times. When he returns, he is at a crossroads.
