Shooting the Ultra Powerful Mk-45 Naval Gun [Maintenance & Training | Compilation]

U.S. Navy Sailors maintain and shoot the Mark 45 (Mk-45) 5-inch(127 mm)/.54 caliber lightweight naval gun during live fire exercises ensuring the systems’ reliability and keeping the personnel’s readiness and skills in various aspects of maritime operations at sea.

The Mk 45 lightweight gun is a U.S. naval artillery gun mount consisting of a 5 inch (127mm) L54 Mark 19 gun on the Mark 45 mount. The gun mount features an automatic loader with a capacity of 20 rounds(taking a little more than a minute to exhaust the rounds at maximum fire rate).

Effective range is about 13 nautical miles (24.1 km) for Mod 2 and 20 nautical miles (37.0 km) for Mod 4. Mk 45 Mods 0-4 installed on more than 230 shipboard applications in the U.S. Navy and nine fleets worldwide.
