M3 Carl Gustaf 84mm Recoilless Rifle – Everything Law and Order Blog

The M3 Carl Gustav is an 84mm man-portable, multi-role, parachute jumpable, recoilless rifle. The Carl Gustaf can be used from the standing, kneeling, sitting or prone positions and a bipod may be attached in front of the shoulder piece. The basic model consists of the main tube with the breech-mounted Venturi recoil damper, with two grips near the front and a shoulder mount. The weapon is fitted with iron sights, but is normally aimed with the attached 3x optical sight with a 17 degree (300 mil) field of view. The M3 is normally operated by a two-man crew(gunner and loader), but may be used by a single operator at a reduced rate of fire.

  1. I do wish this vid showed the full reload procedure uncut from a single angle, but you get a good idea of what goes down by skipping around.

  2. When I serve the army I was GRG shooter

(Grenade launcher Carl Gustaf 84mm) then it was 14 kg fully loaded.

    Today 10 kg fully loaded.

Effective firing range : 350m to 2000 m using rocket-boosted laser guided ammunition.

Very fun to shoot. I had 95% accuracy of all my shoots if I may bragg.

  3. I was a SMAW gunner from 2000 to 2004. Our unit was one of the main units in the invasion of Iraq. I wonder how the accuracy of this rifle compares to the SMAW. I absolutely hated the spotting rifle on the SMAW. Always jammed when sand got in it, and took forever to get on target. Felt like a death trap when snipers were shooting at us. I always thought there has to be a better way of getting an 84 MM rocket on target.

  4. its nice to see americans Learning how to fire this weapon like we swedes do! loader with his hand ready over the lever to open the back once the gunner has fired. much love
