8. Wrong….you don't turn in the homework you get a ZERO. Kids can't even read or do math here in Florida. Basics not taught. Great future of our children. Many parents not interested in learning or teaching their children. We need a license for everything these days….1st if you have a having baby you should take an exam to be licensed. This is our new world….very, very WEAK.

10. There is no one in with a functioning brain that thinks the American school system is working the way it should. The school’s no zero policy is their way of attempting to address some of the problems in the system. The teacher was being disobedient to the administration (doing the exact thing she didn’t want her kids to do) during her probation period… I’m not sure what jobs you have worked but that’s not a good idea anywhere you go. If you want to make changes you need to at least learn the ropes first.

27. Former Teacher Here: The positive of this a missed assignment does not kill your grade. Assumptions 100/90/80/70/60 grading (most grading in high school an F is now 70%). Simplified answer: We all know that if you get an A and a C you will get a B. You get a B and D you get C. What about an A and a F? You should get a C. An A and a F (0%) average to a 50% or an F. So what about 100/100/0 we are now at 66% a D (and in ALL the schools I taught that would an F). So we miss one assignment and we are now at 50% well 100/50 come out to a 75% or a C. The idea is one assignment will not kill a grade. To be honest this only helps good students, lots of assignments due at the end and you have to make a choice one assignment will not kill you. Those who do not turn in assignments all the time will still fail. For the record this one of the reasons I left teaching.

28. I grew up is palm beach county Fl. And I was a terrible student. Never did my work, skipped class every day, suspended all the time. They still passed me and pushed me through. Florida's school system is a joke

30. Exactly! For once I agree with CThaG! I home school my 9yr. old, and if he doesn't do an assignment and turn it in by the due date, it's a zero in the grade book and I still make him complete it. So forget all that no zero stuff. They crazy.

31. Policies like this actually sets students up for failure and I’m pretty sure the school is a majority black school. The system wants us to be failures

32. This is the working world. Corp and higher levels of business. You tweek the system so the business gets money abd upper level management get there bonuses. No one cares about quality and honesty any more. Its all about the mighty dollar. She probably was trying make a statement and pick the wrong time and place to do it.
