She was the Florida woman who had left her kids in the car while she was inside the mail shoplifting. Then the can had caught on fire. And people had to rescue her kids from the car

27. I have schizoaffective disorder. About a decade ago, during psychosis, I broke into a strangers house and proceeded to take a bath. Luckily, I was taken into a local hospital for treatment. I’m fully aware that my white privilege probably saved my life. Mental illness may seem silly, or strange. But it is a bleak reality here in America. Our government decided to criminalize the very notion of treating a chemical imbalance and doubled down on it’s sheer hopelessness by tying healthcare to one’s occupation. Who wouldn’t self medicate with drugs and alcohol when they have no access to treatment, and furthermore, the very medication to keep them sane. Try a schizophrenia simulator sometime. Imagine maintaining employment without meds. Practically impossible. We need to stop laughing and start listening to mental health experts on how to solve this mass homelessness/incarceration crisis and the criminalization of the mentally ill. The war on drugs is a war on people with police officers on the front lines, pretending to be social workers. Sad! This cannot be normalized anymore. Whatever happened to the Good Samaritan?
