Rattling the Bars: Alabama prisoners on strike

TRNN contributor Michael Sainato returns to ‘Rattling the Bars’ to discuss the system-wide strike in Alabama’s state prisons. The strike is focused on both improving the living conditions of prisoners and demanding changes to Alabama’s draconian parole and sentencing laws and practices.

Current updates on the prison strike are being released by the organization Free Alabama Movement: https://twitter.com/FREEALAMOVEMENT

This conversation was recorded on Sept. 27.

  1. Since when is a prison supposed to be comfortable since when is a prison supposed to be like a country prisoners have way too many amenity now they have television rooms with large flat screen TVs basketball courts volleyball courts I actually was at the FCI in Elkton Ohio these guys are living like fucking Kings large indoor gymnasium with weights basketball courts outside there is a beautiful track to walk or run on the showers are in clean they get commissary once a week to even get ice cream there was four different television rooms and the one dormitory I inspected a general room for everyone then you had your weights only your blacks only and your Hispanics there was two computer stations that the inmates could get on the computer and email and talk to their family from early in the morning to late in the evening they had many programs there I mean this place was like a country club prisons should not be a place where criminals lawbreakers want to go to and I heard too elderly gentlemen say that they purposely broke their probation because of medical treatment they receive better medical treatment in prison in Elkton Ohio then they can receive on the street there's something seriously wrong when criminals want to go back to prison

  2. Why can't we just say it plane we need law enforcement but we can only survive law enforcement that abides by the law they enforce

  3. Even if they are monsters we don't rape monsters we don't allow others to rape monsters much less are wives or daughters or mothers

  4. I have still heard very little y'all have said about the women being systematically raped by the prison guards in our prison system and the justice department knowing this and not doing anything about it

  5. A better question might be why is the justice department not jailing and Prosecuting the officers that are molesting the women

  6. Thank you for bringing us this information. It's a very sick and wicked system ablaze with greed. Is the prison industrial complex making America great?

  7. Redundancies about SLAVERY in 🇺🇸 yet individuals are clueless. Entertain this ALL wars are scams General S Butler, look it up! It true education leave USA you will learn what the world thinks about Americans.

  8. Too bad freedom of speech denied in USA my FBA ADOAE Lineage experiences. If YourTube line out or a glitch your system, there is no freedom of speech and goes against 🇺🇸 constitution.🙏🏿👵🏿

  9. REPARATIONS MATTER A Debt Long Overdue Owed by the USA government, state governments specifically the typical racist state of ALABAMA.
RANT! Weak read comics or your local rag😳🤔
Why is slavery allowed to thrive in the 🇺🇸 🤔 case study ALABAMA specifically. The 🇺🇸 constitution an opinion a sick document which endorses SLAVERY. Government, state, Alabama is historically completely corrupt sadistic white supremacist pride themselves is HATRED and UNFAIRNESS, routine slaughter plunder of FBA ADOAE Lineage humans who do not look like themselves. Making money off inmate labor is a criminal offense therefore criminals in care of criminals., go figure. This is corruption to its core.
-Prisoners anywhere are entitled to fair wages for their labor as all 🇺🇸 citizens. The crimes committed should not subject them inmates to individual persecution by savages who historically slaughtered and plundered, the keepers of insane disgusting behavioral practices towards inmates they government their & their lackeys R the real criminals
immigrants are the ones exploited for their labor ie., illegals occupying 🇺🇸 are not citizens, yet they have rights as they call FBA ADOAE Lineage people n-gg on the jobs the get universities, federal state governments.
Any prisoners any prison are human beings. 4 legged animals are better treated protected. If state government known by citizens is as corrupt as hell the federal government destruction of citizens via these corrupt state(s) is truly unconscionable. Alabama is a thriving slavery state. Slavery under another name is EVIL! Thriving Degenerative state and government inbred state leadership denies humane protections, inhumane treatment under the state total control.
-With federal government approval biden watch currently.
-Denial of basic human rights is criminal thug behavior the federal government ALLOWS and does NOT protect 🇺🇸 citizens. When has retaliation for speaking out against criminal behavior condone prison guard RAPE & murder of human beings in their care are criminal this Alabama state is out of control😳🤬🤬🤬

  10. The USA fuels the drugs coming in here and corruption allows them in, in turn arresting black men and people of color to put them into their prisons for forced labor. That’s literally modern legal slavery. I’m sure 80% of these men are here for a drug offense and are non violent. Fuck this shit, fuck the people doing this, and fuck their system. It’s time to change policies and turn up their world. Things need to change NOW. It’s time to stand up for human rights

  11. I've been in jail and I keep wanting to be a selfish burden on society like all of the prisoners that I was in cell block 87 with.. r but all these nasty prison stories make me not want to break the law anymore…
    Life just isn't fair…
I want to do the crime ..
but I refuse to do the time.
If you watch the Daryl Brooks trial of the mass murderer in Wisconsin who killed all the white people in the parade I just can't quite understand why we don't want more angry black white hating racist monsters like him out on the street ….the liberals and Democrats are okay with it why aren't the conservatives?

  12. I was in a Texas prison rehab called safe-p. It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I mean the things they did. It was a unit that served mental health clients and i watched this one girl with severe depression have hot water thrown on her. It made her give up all together. They would turn the water off on us for days. No brushing teeth no flushing toilets (and 98 women were all in a giant room with these inoperable toilets for days on end. They would take bins of potatoes outside for the cats to piss on. They let scabes spread for months and wouldn't treat anyone until a guard got it

  13. Alabama has been using prisoner are treated like slaves. Working for . 17 cent an hour. Cleaning politicians lawn homes. I wish I would. That's insane. I will rather be dead. I will give those Republicans what they want.

  14. They're striking because of the on humane living conditions. Not about parole. They are trying to live to see to make it to parole. Y'all have seen the videos.
