So the 2nd amendment is less important than the 1st and the 4th? Which others? This is not a gun issue, it's an adult services / human issue. Guy was overwhelmed and repeatedly asked for intervention. I can't believe you are supportive of a law that would give police the right to bypass your 4th amendment right and seize your weapons based on something someone says or thinks…why not also have that in place the the 1st amendment? A 1st amendment red flag law…sounds awesome.

The cops will claim, and it will work, that the Supreme Court rulings on this put them in the clear. They are not obligated to protect us according to the Supremes.
The way I feel about guns is it should be illegal to not be armed with a firearm at all times. Police shootings are added in the gun violence, statistics, but I bet they won’t take their guns if they ever banned guns.

I’m from a small town in Canada, Woodstock Ontario. We had a nurse named Elizabeth Wettlaufer Who murdered thirteen elderly people at our care home. She actually gave herself up, they didn’t catch her, and not one nurse realized that people were dying one after the other. I had a relative in that home, I visited three times a week, I would sit in the dark and hold her hand. They had no idea that I was there, the disgusting things I heard and saw them do to the elderly would make you sick. They would all scramble to their posts when I walked out of the room, suddenly the elderly were being cared for. This old man will actually be treated better in prison than he would a care home. Which is more than he did for her, we treat animals better than the elderly.
"Red flag laws" are whole cloth UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Violating due process or any other right, even in the name of "saving lives" is unacceptable. Without rights, you'll have no life.

Law enforcement clearly failed this woman. The man threatened her in front of them and they clearly walked out on her. And her asking not to leave. They knew the guy was agitated. They knew he had the firearms in the house. It's to later now I should da I could da.
I was a live-in care provider. When i reached the point where i could no longer provide care i called 911. Cops came & an ambulance took the patient to the hospital. That is the appropriate response. The hospital looks over the patient & decides what step to take – nursing home or back home with another care provider but you don't abandoned a patient with someone who says they can't do it anymore

When people ask "do you want to live in a world without police?" they clearly haven't realised we already do live in that world.
When your house is being invaded and your family are being attacked, you're in a world without police… When your child is grabbed off the street, they're in a world without police… When your daughter's walking home from the bar and gets dragged into an alley, she's in a world without police.
Police turn up after the event, they're not outside your home waiting, they don't drive your kids home, they don't take your grand parents to the bank, so how would it be living in a world without police? No worse than it is already.
Cops are NOT a public service, the are just organized crime… a gang, a mafia.

I Totally believe in the second amendment. The ambulance crew and police had a DUTY not to red flag this man, but to report an emergency to adult services. After the man saying what he said, and the lady getting him to report that “she’s ok…till i kill her” was 100%grounds to 1. not leave her alone with him, 2. Make sure she was removed from his care 3. Report her plight to adult services 3. Baker act him ( Fl term for having him committed for threatening to harm another)psych eval and then restraining order or have her permanently removed. For these cops to have been so blind is unbelievable. Can’t they see he was crying out for help?!? Caretakers have heavy burdens and can come to an end of a rope (unfortunately literally sometimes) very quickly. They BOTH needed help!!!!

You don't need red flag laws in this case. The guy issued a direct threat in front of officers, that's already a crime.
Red flag laws are unconstitutional, and laws already existed for them to remove her from his home.

That was a medical issue. You get the patient out of the house, take her to the hospital, the hospital will get her into a care facility, she will not return home. Those cops should have never been dispatched, paramedics should have been dispatched to make the primary assessment, taken her to the hospital and then to a care facility at the hospitals direction. I have lived this scenario in real life, not an expert, but I did go through this. Only difference we brought mother-in-law home twice. That’s when we learned to refuse her discharge. People like us that had not experienced this just don’t know the options.
They don’t care ever have never will. Supreme Court all ready rule not there responsibility.
It’s good the old dude was a gun owner; but he certainly sounded like a dick. And calling police doesn’t help anyone. The woman needed help obviously; but she didn’t get help from the old dude or the police.
