12. I found myself homeless and sleeping in my car for a time. Police came around, told me that sleeping in my car was illegal. He cited me, and told me I needed to sleep on the street.

    Considering I was pretty young and naive at the time I did. Then a police officer came by and cited me for loitering and trespassing for sleeping on a park bench.

    I went back to my car and decided to drive elsewhere. But the same cop followed me to my car and then gave me a 3 thousand dollar ticket for not having my car registered in the state of California.

    I told him I wasn't technically a resident yet. Obviously I hadn't even found a place to stay yet. He told me if I'm sleeping in California then I'm a resident.

    I actually went to court to contest that one. I had been in California for less than 3 months, and was homeless…but attending college. The judge said that since I attended school here I was a resident, regardless of my living situation.

    I then asked him if he could put that in writing so I could bring it to my school, and get a massive refund for the out of state tuition I paid. I could then use that refund to pay these ridiculous tickets. He laughed at me.

    So I go to register my vehicle in California, as per their judgement order, and the DMV did not allow me too… because without an address, or any bills, I couldn't prove I was resident. In fact, they insisted that I wasn't, because you have to live in a state for more than a year to be resident…pay taxes…or something.

    So I went back to the court, and told them this. They said it wasn't their problem…

13. Makes perfect sense. If he doesn't pay the fine they can arrest him and put him in jail for not having any money.

Yeah it is hard to do your job when you're sworn to up hold the laws, but instead choose to harass people who pose no significant threat to the well-being or safety of their fellow citizens and you do everything you can to find some law any law that they're possibly violating. No matter how in consequential it is.
