In the past 6 months, I have noticed the amount of cop watchers and auditors is on the rise more then I’ve ever seen before.
This video, is kind of the short version of ‘suggestions’, if I get enough response to this video, I will make a longer more detailed video.
So you want to be a copwatcher? suggestions mentioned:
1. you might not want to go out there if you have warrants, but you do you
2. driver license should be valid if you plan to drive to cop watch,
3. check and make sure all your car running lights are working
4.Equipment- get a decent camera so people will watch and not be distracted by grainy fuzzy video
5. a decent lap top or desktop computer + external hard drive *videos take up a lot of GB also a video editing program you are familiar with to edit your videos
6.Scanner app is always helpful
7.If you are going to focus on a specific department or division, become familiar with that area….(so you know where you going, and don’t waste time being lost)
8.Know your state laws know the written policies -not that they will abide by them, but you can be more confident in your defense.
9.Start with a partner or group- reach out to other cop watchers and/or auditors in your area, or even out of state for advice.

You will figure out your style as time goes on. Try not to worry about the negatives people may say or comment, you have to have a thick skin to do what we do….
I personally am not out to be arrested and have to spend my valuable time in court, or have to be robbed of my money- but if you are – make sure whomever you are copwatching with knows that is your goal- so the appropriate people can be contacted in that event…
So much more I will say if the response to this video is good- and I go on to make the longer video.

  4. Hi Laura, I appreciate your work and I do have a question for you. I'm not great with electronics but I'm 100% legit with no convictions (except for a health code violation many years ago) and I've always held the police accountable for their actions and I'm not intimidated by their stupid tactics or questions in fact I question them constantly and they're always trying to dismiss me. Question is do you ever have people that go along just to witness you and have your back?

  11. The CA vehicle code is a bit dated as it says two brake lights are required BUT it also says "all lights present when the car was manufactured must be in working order". A inop 3rd brake light stop is a valid stop. The Fed says 3 brake lights also but this is an instruction to the vehicle manufacture (I believe this is the same idea behind reflector pedals on bicycles, an instruction from the Feds as to how a bicycle must be equipped ). Just watched where Foxy was arrested for failure to ID as a passenger. Stop was for…..inop license plate light. Failure to ID as a passenger is only required if the cop suspects you commited a crime. Unlawful arrests happen all the time, unfortunately. Very pretty girl Laura (this was my edit)

    About equipment. I do not believe using an older camcorder that uses Hi8mm film cassettes is going to satisfy your subscribers (somewhat low picture quality) Hi8 uploads to Youtube end up looking like something from 1990 and no stabilization electronics, perhaps some of the last Hi8 camcorders made used image stabilization.) I think the Rodney King video we have all seen was taken with an 8mm camcorder (not Hi8) It is a shame that you can't use a Hi8 camcorder as they can be purchased for next to nothing off Ebay, I have 2, a new battery will cost you more than the camera. There is some logic in using older cheap equipment as if it gets confiscated and "lost" you are not out so much.

  15. I'm a police officer in Chicago.. You do pretty good for yourself… I've seen some of your work… In Illinois.. The case of former Cook states attorney Anita Alvarez and state of Illinois vs aclu was decided in favor of activists recording the police… In their official duties…. Good luck..   23. No I couldn't be a Cop Watcher or Auditor. I stand my ground and defend myself. And I swear to much esp at tyrants.

  26. No license, registration or STATE OF plate on my property, for over 13 years.
    Not a thing my sworn servants can "lawfully" do about it.
    One kidnapping, sworn servant settled for 150k before it got into court.
    I love the law.
