23. If you ever took the training you would understand why they are so ignorant about the rules… it is literally an open computer test with all the answers provided. And while it is very informative and helpful, if they just breeze through it they will probably not retain any of the information. It does however say very plainly that it is the health workers responsibility to make sure that none of the patients medical information is shared outside the facility that is providing the service. It most always pertains to medical records too… every time I hear one of them say that YOU can’t record in a public place because of it… drives me nuts!

44. Johnny I as an EMT we are supposed to be trained once a year for HIPAA compliance that is in Sioux Falls, SD Where I happen to work with one of the best healthcare organizations in the region. I am not going to state the employer but there are two great hospitals in that city. And they are in 100 percent compliant with HIPAA. Now as far as filming, I agree with you, but as healthcare providers we are NOT allowed to use our personal devices to take pictures of patients, medical records, injuries and so forth. If so we can be held in violation in which could be a civil or federal penalty. So we take it seriously. Now as far as you filming you are across the property not on HOSPITAL property. So those wanna be cops are just way illiterate when it comes down it. So you are in compliance with your first amendment right!
