Heya Laura retired mechanic here. Sounds like u need a mechanic u can depend on and TRUST. control arms arw not a big deal for any competent mechanic. The brake backing plate is a thin metal disc he just needee to bend awaybfrom brake rotor. And GOD I HOPE HE ALIGNED IT otherwise you'll be buying tires every couple of months.
I'm in S.D. by the way not that far. Used to be Mobile Mechanic. I'd possibly drive that far if u needed. I like to show people what the problem is and teach that way next time u wont get ripped off
I keep a strip of electrical tape over my phone lenses for privacy and to keep the dust off.
