I just removed my battery, checked voltages, installed it, opened the screen and the camera didn't start. I found pushing button on screen worked.

Call sony Laura… Their equipment is usually a 1..i have similar sony cam corder.. Operates like urs… Open and light video screen comes on.. Look up ur model online and try troubleshooting yourself..sony has tech online support for their products.. . Happy hunting..

Sending some cameras to AV they're nothing special but most have wifi I'll get them out this week. Still waiting on equipment I wanted to send down with it all to come in. But I can get what I have here sent down there monday if what I am waiting on doesnt show up before then.
Did you hook the cable up to the camera? Be sure the battery contacts look ok and re-seat the battery.
I buy $200 cameras from Amazon. I have a Panasonic HC-V180 FULL HD with a 90X zoom. What is Laura using and what are the good features? I suggest a video light for night work. Low setting makes the reflective materials pop. Amazon sells Suptig underwater LED panel lights for $25.
