Hey Mike the Cop, I'm a new subscriber with what might seem to be a silly question, but one I would like addressed. If I see a cop, not actively on an arrest or what I would perceive as actively working a job, what is the best way to thank him/her? Do you shake his/her hand or just a verbal thanks? Do the police appreciate it or has it become rote ? Do you give him/her a longer reason why you appreciate their job, or is that taking up valuable time? Thanks: HB

I've got a question. This happened about 2 weeks ago and I only drove the car to work because I missed the bus since this happened once. I normally take the bus pretty much everywhere.However, 2 weeks ago I was told by my mother, to borrow my dad's car and pick up my teenage brother from work. He works at a skating rink about 15 miles away with no bus lines and only major state routes in between there an our house. Well as I said I was driving my dad car because I dont have my own and unless I'm running an errand for my parents or late for work I dont drive it. I was however stopped by an office for an expired inspection. Writing this post in March it's been uninspected since Aug 2018. I told the officer the situation and he left me with a warning and to tell my dad to get the vehicle inspected. Now schedules at my brothers work have changed and my dad just picks him up in his main car after work so I dont have to. But my mom and dad still ask me to do errands for them which would require driving the expired car. Should I do what they say and my dad the owner will get in trouble or should I just not drive it in case I get pulled over?
