Trooper Doesn’t Appreciate Man’s Honesty: “This is not a happy experience, sir!”

On August 6, 2017 a trooper with the Washington State Patrol stopped a Ford truck for speeding: 59 in a 40. What came next was a surprising exchange, one in which the driver didn’t put on a happy face and engage in small talk. Instead, he told the trooper why he wasn’t going to play along.

Watching the footage from the stop you get the sense that the trooper took it all in stride. Which makes sense. After all, law enforcement work requires thick skin. People are– oh, wait… the end of the video. Hmm…

Spoiler alert: he didn’t take it all in stride.

  1. Cop was 100% right.

20 mph over on a foggy roadway. The driver was the arrogant and hostile one, with his driving and then entitled attitude.

    onlyShould

  2. You've still got that chance of a warning until you show your ass. Admit you're wrong with a smile and take your chance. Humor might be you're best bet, "Officer, I'm a preacher in an athirst church. My quire only knows two songs, Highway to Hell and Hells Bells. I've got a lot on my mind, I apologize". If you can get em laughin you might have a chance.

  3. Shoulda pulled him over again at the end for failure to signal when joining a traffic lane after the first stop.

  4. I will say, the officer probably put more people in danger trying to catch up then the guy speeding in the first place. That said, its a speedong ticket and you probably could have gotten off with a warning with out the instant attitude and hostility.

Conclusion: Officer, why put more people in danger enforcing a speading ticket on someone with no traffic around him. Subject, shut up, take it. Its dumb but you were wrong and earned the ticket, be nice and try and work for a warning

  5. if I was the officer I believe I would have handed the ticket and said, "I hope the speed in which I issued this citation was adequate! If you feel I didn't write it fast enough, please feel free to lodge a complaint."

  6. 0:43 love how the morons just ignore the emergency vehicle and selfishly enter the intersection to casually complete their turn like nothing is happening. f-ing idiots

  7. Did this guy drive away before he was supposed to? If the stop was over why did dispatch need to know if he was hostile or not? And dude, 20 over in the fog with farm equipment on the road. And then you are dick on top of it. He is lucky his truck didn't get towed. That is a good case for reckless op if I ever saw one.

  8. This is the same kind of guy that gets mad when you drive a little too fast through his neighborhood. Lol your always a good law abiding citizen tax payer until your not

  9. "I'm sorry, sir. What can we do to make it a happier experience for you next time we nail you for nearly 20 over the speed limit? We want to be sure every violator is fully satisfied."

  10. Did y'all see the cop touch the back of the vehicle he pulled over or were you not watching? Reason cop pus his fingerprints on the back of vehicle just in case the stop went awry or wrong, this car will hv fingerprints on it to prove cop pulled this person over. Didn't know they still teach this in academy training, FYI

  11. During a stop for speed in excess only, most drivers wind up writing their ticket. Attitude, language and honesty makes all the difference.

  12. Cop is so sensitive! He thinks that is aggressive and hostile? He would probably shoot me! Seems like the perfect stop to me! Short and sweet without the invasive questions and harassment! Well worth the ticket!

  13. Aggressive and hostile? A little annoyed sure, but really dude?
Dispatch doesn't need to hear you cry like you just got killed in CSGO.

  14. Another happy Washington tax collector, steeling good citizens money. How can you be happy with yourself doing this to people.

Wow and the last bit was simply beautiful so the next officer who waits this citizens time and money will be ass for sure as well.

  15. So this cops going about 80mph to stop and ticket a man for driving 60. Talk about a man with zero integrity. Last time I checked the 4th amendment doesn't descriminate against speed, but it respects one's "security". Meaning if this man has not harmed or endangered anyone, stopping him is against the law. Clearly the driver put no one in danger. This cop is an idiot.

  16. So someone does 59 in a 40, and the cop thinks its a good idea to go 95 in that same 40 to catch him. That has to stop

  17. 5:20 The pig told his dispatch that the driver was hostile and aggressive.
So, being honest and to the point is deemed hostile & aggressive. The cop didn't get his boots licked whilst giving out tickets. Does the pig's wife have to say thank-you after every encounter?

  18. The driver have every right not to engage in small talk or listen to any lecture from the police.

That said, this officer respected that and got business done in a professional manner.

A lot of other officers would have been a tyrant because of their butt hurt ego.
