Nashville, Tennessee — On Thursday, June 1, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Detective Donovan Coble and his colleagues from the Hermitage Precinct’s Community Field Intelligence Team responded to a call from The Parking Spot, an airport area parking lot for travelers, concerning an armed man who was breaking into cars. Detective Coble’s body camera footage shows officers encountering 37-year-old Delama Casimir in a rear parking lot. He was ordered to stop, but instead ran through the lot and jumped over a wooden fence. Detective Coble also jumped over the fence, at that point with a Taser in his hand, and ordered Casimir to stop.

During the chase, Detective Coble transitioned to his pistol just before Casimir pointed a .380 semi-automatic pistol over his shoulder in Coble’s direction and fired. Detective Coble was seriously wounded during the exchange of gunfire. Casimir went down in heavy brush. Detective Coble radioed that he had been shot and hurriedly went to the street. A fellow detective picked up Coble and rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Hermitage Precinct Detective Donovan Coble remains in critical but stable condition recovering from a gunshot wound to his side/rib area. He is expected to fully recover.

Hermitage Precinct officers, as well as SWAT officers, responded to the Donelson Pike/Shacklett Drive/Claridge Drive/Upshaw Drive area to search for the then unidentified gunman. At 3:35 p.m., SWAT Officer Tim Brewer, as shown on his body camera footage, was clearing a section of the heavy foliage when he game upon Casimir in the brush. Officer Brewer began shouting commands to Casimir and reported seeing the pistol. Brewer perceived a gunshot and fired on Casimir. SWAT officers rendered aid to him, and he was transported to the hospital and into surgery. Casimir died at 7:25 p.m. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

  1. Amazing. A valuable, hard-working, reparations-eligible member of "The Community" shot the pursuing officer with a gun fited over the back of his head…while running.

  2. And this is why somebody being shot in the back by police while carrying a gun is always justified.

  3. It puts a smile on my face to know that the suspect died five hours after initially being shot. He didn't deserve a quick death.

  4. I’m glad I live in the country where the guns are illegal. You can’t buy a beer but you can buy AR-15 that’s fucked up man lol

  5. I just cant wrap my head around why people do the dumb s**t they do. Dudes dead all because he was breaking into cars. What a life.

  6. Send the bad guys parents a note describing how they completely failed in raising a law abiding citizen and this is exactly how things might end up.

  7. I look forward to more information on the background of Casimir. I'll not be surprised if I learn that this is not his first experience with the criminal justice system. Good riddance. Thank you LEOs and I hope Det. Coble recovers completely and quickly.

  8. I hope the officer recovers and as for the suspect RIP, but you had a choice and you chose wrong.

  9. Never be afraid to die brave police officers. Ive died once. It was very peaceful. Thats a gift from God to all of us, whether we deserve it or not.

  10. And everyone wants to scream and throw a fit about their baby that was such a good kid and future president got shot in the back while doing nothing!!

  11. I don’t know what cops think you can move your body to their commands to satisfy them. When you’ve been shot with a bullet launched in you I see this countlessly every time with these videos.

  12. @0:22 why do cops think they can just vandalize peoples property? That’s a nice ride if he did that to my whip and I saw this video, I would be getting that mfs badge number and having a discussion. Just because you’re chasing a criminal doesn’t give you the right to tear up OTHER peoples sh*t.
