Los Angeles, California — On March 16, 2021 around 12:15 p.m., LAPD Southwest Patrol Division officers responded to a radio call of an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon” in the 1000 block of West 21st Street. The officers learned that the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Jorge Cerda, was armed, believed to be under the influence of narcotics, and had discharged a weapon. After the suspect barricaded himself inside a home, officers from Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) were summoned to the scene to assist. The SWAT personnel established containment, cleared surrounding residents from the area, and initiated their efforts to establish communication with the suspect.

After the Crisis Negotiation Team declared an impasse, gas was deployed into the home. As this occurred, the suspect fired, striking SWAT officer, Rodney Williams twice. The suspect then exited the residence armed with a shotgun resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting. Cerda was struck by gunfire. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and determined Cerda had died at the scene. Officer Williams struck by gunfire was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. He suffered a shot to the face and a round to the chest which was stopped by his vest. A shotgun and pistol were recovered at scene and booked as evidence. No other officers or bystanders were injured during this incident.

Let's grow the liberal base by letting these folks through the border, team up with the media to make sure the cops are always positioned as the bad guys (especially if they are white) and then give the illegal children Kamala Harris' book while they await their freedom into the country in an effort to condition them early. it is unbelievable what this administration is getting away with. I am taking my business and tax dollars to a different country.

  12. The first 911 operator needs to be filled, not only her attitude, buy why you spend time for asking his age, race, name ….for? do like the second lady, get address, situation, send officer right away.

  22. There are a ton of factors in this scenario that were handled well from dispatch to SWAT. But stop talking shit on that dispatch Officer, she wasn't attitudy she just needs to make sure she gets the information. Sound annoyed or not thats how it works, a dispatcher isn't there to show concern for the situation, they're there to get units to the right place as quickly as possible and if they're annoyed its probably because they're working to get units directed.

    This video showed a lot and I keep seeing tons of comments about hate for the dispatcher in the first portion but regardless of how you feel her "tone" is, she did good to ask the right questions and clearly got units there with the bullshit information the family gave. The dispatchers tone shouldn't even be a bother but it is, so non LEO, I understand how you feel that is but everything was SOP and handled well. The Officers AND dispatcher did well.

  29. “If his owns the BB gun, and is not threatening you guys, then I can’t do anything to him?” Miss you sound like you hate your occupation, shooting a weapon in the air in a threatening manner is enough to constitute intervention from Law Enforcement, that officer was high, not just the suspect.
