Stubborn Jersey Cop vs. Stubborn Jersey Guys – Everything Law and Order Blog

When two unstoppable forces collide, the one that wins is usually the one with the ticket book.

On September 9, 2019 Officer Narciso Vergara of the West Deptford, New Jersey police department stopped two skateboarding males on the access road to Riverwinds Point in West Deptford, New Jersey. According to the officer’s report, he then advised the males that the park closed at 10:00 pm.

The males, Joseph and Tyler Kyser, “became extremely argumentative about why they were being stopped,” wrote the officer in his report. Officer Vergara ultimately released the males from the scene and mailed a citation to Joseph Kyser, as he had promised. No citation was issued to Tyler.

Journalism’s landscape has radically changed. In late-2018 social media surpassed newspapers as a news source for U.S. adults, and a Pew Research Center survey released last week found that more than half of U.S. adults get news from social media. Make your work count: Real World Police’s reach far exceeds that of the Boston Globe and our [rapidly growing] average daily viewership is currently on par with the circulation of The New York Times.

  1. Wow, this must be the most crime free township for stopping ppl walking down the road. Since when were police allowed to impose on ppls God given rights to walk down the street. They weren't in a park but the cop keeps talking about the park being closed and who the F***K cares what time it is. I work night work from 6pm-6am and I'm on my nights off I like to take my dog for a walk and it happens to be that 2am in the morn is like 2pm in the afternoon for someone that works in the daytime. I have the utmost respect for honest police officers that don't abuse their position of authority but its the ones that do abuse it should be weeded out so they don't give a bad name for the rest. The 1st thing a cop asked you for after you give them your ID is where are you going and coming from, regardless what time it is or if you give no signs of being intoxicated. And if you refuse to tell them where your going, they take it personally like they have every business knowing evry aspect of your life. Its different if they suspect you committed a crime and are investigating that but I'm referring to routean traffic stops or walking down a public rd.

  2. He's right, there was no reason for it. The cop could've pulled up, rolled down his window and said it's a private road, the road and park close at 10, you need to leave. He never needed to get out.

  3. Gotta love the police. I respect them and their very dangerous, and often times thankless, careers. But why is it that unless you meekly agree with them immediately, you are treated like a felon? Seriously, don't we all have careers which demand that we answer reasonable questions? FFS, the constitution is supposed to protect the average citizen against zealous cops like this. I probably would have reacted the same way as this "perp". If the officer is so adamant that the two scary skateboarders grovel to him, I'd say the same thing. Give me a summons, you power hungry, no empathy egomaniac.

  4. That's not the park that road leads to a development and to Riverwinds Park on the Delaware River its not actually the park which is just across from Philadelphia and there's also a bar located down the road. Can't even walk down the street without being Harrased
