State Troopers Rescue Man From Burning Car

When troopers Chris Warwick and Tom O’Connor received the 11:23 p.m. report of a Ford Fusion that had wrecked into a guardrail along Route 42 in Gloucester Township, New Jersey, they had no idea what they were about to encounter. But they knew it was just up the road.

Watch this gripping footage of two New Jersey State Police troopers making one of the closest-call police rescues from a burning vehicle to be caught on video.

Although the dash camera footage was not recorded with audio, Real World Police has obtained exclusive body worn camera video (with audio, obviously) capturing the entirety of this dramatic rescue.

The call is first shown to completion, with both video sources on screen simultaneously. Then, in the final three minutes of video the rescue is shown for a second time. Those three minutes utilize only one video source: a tightly-cropped shot from the troopers’ dash camera, mixed with the audio from the trooper’s body-worn camera. Notice, as that plays, that there are people watching in the background on the right.

Finally, if you are still reading this, a heads up: tomorrow morning (Friday, 4/12), Real World Police will be publishing our biggest story to date. Check it out, and when you see it please share it!

  1. To this very day I can't remember what happened whilst I was on a bicycle and someone pulled in, me going in and totalling the car with it. Very heavy concussion. Stuff that happens during accidents can be very serious (this was 15 years ago). Stuff happens, even if you're being careful, let alone uncareful.

  2. I strongly believe in natural selection…Should've told him "Get out. Your car is on fire." and let nature take over. Guy is very nonchalant for almost burning to death.
P.S.: Kudos to the good samaritan who stopped to make sure everything was all good and nobody else needed help.

  3. I bet you anything he had some kind of seizure. How he was dazed, confused and totally out of it until suddenly hes alert and talking. Apparently I'm known to react the same way. As soon as the cop said something about the scar on his head I was like ahhhh had to be a friggen seizure. Scary af if so and why I will never ever drive even if I ever get the ok to. That's ridiuclous they didnt make him go to the hospital.

  4. Rather ironic song playing on the radio at the time. "I've got all I need, and it's alright by me…" Except for the fact that my car's on fire and I'm trapped inside.

  5. Thank god that they didn't blur his face.. Time to run it through my Facebook Facial Recognition A.I. software. Thanks facebook for the API.

  6. Anyone else worried about how out of it this guy was? Yeah, I understand falling asleep, but the impact usually wakes you up, and if not, the cops yelling to get out of the car should.

  7. I hope officers like that are near if I'm ever in danger. That guy was totally helpless and would have died a horrible death if not for those officers.

  8. Geez! By the time Anthony came out of shock / concussion (guess he might have had a prior surgery and hit his head during the accident) he would have been burning alive! Wowers, thank the lord for those brave officers!!!
Also mad props to the person who came to help and thankfully was not needed!!! Fire is a frightening thing!

  9. These officers did an amazing job. Poor driver and glad they did hound him but on top of that having someone do a FST after that would get thrown out anyways.

  10. Aaaaannnnddddd… Why was he knocked out in the 1st place? Drinking? Medical condition? Deer impact? No other news given with this?

  11. The reason the guy doesn't want to goto the hospital is because he is waiter and doesn't have health benefits. He knows if he goes to the hospital it'll cost him $20k in hospital bills. Obviously there's a chance they'll find something but I feel for him.

  12. wow! Got him out by the skin of his teeth or what? Another 30 seconds they wouldn't have been able to get to him. Lucky guy. Can't believe he was so cool about it, "I'm fine I'll get a taxi"?

  13. OMG I can't wait for tomorrow now!!! This video was so intense! It absolutely awes me how selfless our men and women in blue truly are each and every day!
P.S. STILL WAITING ON DONATION LINKS TO SUPPORT THE CHANNEL AND ALL THE HARD WORK YOU DO FOR US!

  14. When I hear anyone say why do we need cops? THIS IS WHY. They do way more than give out tickets. They could not stand there and watch. It was their duty to help that guy get out of his burning car.

  15. I was really relieved when they didn't shoot him, I thought when they ran up and yelled" get ur foot off gas and turn car off!". I was thinking they were going shoot him and then watch him burn, just saying!!!
