  14. The same rhetoric was (and still is) being used against drones, military or otherwise. The term "unmanned aerial vehicle" implies that no one in manning it. No one is controlling it. No one is making the decision to turn, climb, bank left, circle a target or to drop munitions. It implies that the machine is making all those decisions by itself. This couldn't be farther from the truth. There is a real person at the controls of this machine. It's no different from a remote control toy, except with some fatal assets attached to it. But the person at the controls is ultimately responsible for making the decision and likely also has a chain of command to answer to whenever the weapon is used. A real life human being, with feelings.

  16. It’s happening and you are being blinded by your previous alliance. Officers are now able to distance themselves from the act of taking a life. This may seem great to you for safety reasons, but it is horrifying to the public for safety reasons.

  17. Good I like it. It breaks my heart they send dog in dangerous sisuation. They should only be used to find drugs. Not letting them into a house to get shot. If it saves officers lives I’m for it. Because police lives matter. And I’m not even a cop. I respect the good cops out there

  21. I think people are overreacting to this whole thing. Tbh I wonder how the same people freaking out over this feel about bomb robots….I mean are they insistent that a bomb tech always has to diffuse it? I think this allows a more controlled operation in general and less reactionary actions from officers: as they wouldn’t be in direct danger and can therefore take more time to make their decisions.

    Just my “civilian opinion”.

  29. How about supporting the human cops when they have to use force, deadly or otherwise? A guy or lady with training, education and God given empathy and judgment is labeled a racist for doing their job, but the same administration that doesn’t have the cops’ backs want to give the job to robots.

  30. Police robots have killed three pieces of human garbage that I can recall just off the top of my head. Bomb handling, tactical and surveillance robots were in use in the 70s. This isn’t new folks.

  35. What we need are robotic politicians. They could programmed to be logical, to not infringe on Constitutional Rights, wouldn’t care about money from lobbyists and we can get rid of those ridiculous pension that Congress gets.

    But then again, we don’t know how to create a secure election so forget about reliable robots.

  37. I think it's beautiful! As a retired street Sergeant, anytime I could have put a robot into a very dangerous situation, especially an armed confrontation, instead of a real, living, breathing officer, I wouldn't have thought twice!

  38. You know, separate from politics because I hate liberals, when I was a kid I really wanted Robocops around.

    I'll be friendly and accept everyone's line in the sand as far as morality goes, Mike. But personally, I'd be totally fine executing without due process if we had a truly noble police force and government. I would have no tolerance for crime.

    But as I've grown up, humans just can't handle it. We've all mostly got a bag of cats for brains and I'm honestly surprised we've made it this far.

I think it is great Tool so instead of Blowing someone up now they can just shoot them from safety. Wouldn't need this of course if they would Prosecute crimes and hand down Jail time.
