The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a pit bull was shot by one of its officers early Thursday morning. Officers say they were called to a home on Thorngrove Pike just before 5 a.m. for a 911 hang up call. Officers said they parked away from the mobile home for safety reasons and knocked on the side of the residents. They said three unrestrained dogs ran from the back of the home and allege one pit bull charged the officers. Body cam video shows an officer shooting the dog.

Owner Kenny Bailey says his wife was using her phone as a flashlight and accidentally dialed 911. Deputies say Bailey told them the pit bull was police trained, but admitted later in the video he would have shot the dog also. The sheriff’s office took another report on October 18 of a man who was bitten by a pit bull at the same address. There have also been calls to the home about domestic matters. Both officers involved in the incident remain on duty as the investigation continues.

  1. Some dumbass starting "playing" with my pitbull by slapping it around, idiot about lost a hand, I hate cops in my fucking yard

  2. Ok can we talk about the fact that the cop put shots out and this unarmed female civ in pajamas just came out like "huh there was a gunshot outside my house I should prolly investigate"

  3. I couldn't shoot a dog. No matter what. Unless I couldn't kick it away and fight it off, I wouldn't shoot it. I understand the cop, im just saying that I personally could never.

  4. This one is a tough one to watch. I’m retired law enforcement and I have a pitbull who I love as a child. I feel for the cop because most cops have and love there dogs. I know this was the last thing they ever wanted to do. I wish I never watched this one.

  5. If someone shot my dog from a miss call I would be just as pissed. I am all for the police but F these officers. As a grown man I am pretty sure I can handle a 70lb dog with backup.

  6. Bunch of boot lickers in the comment section defending armed members of the public killing someone's animals on private property.
I'm sure all of you would be on the ground asking asking the officers for forgiveness that your dogs inconvenienced them in any way.

  7. This guys sob story makes me laugh every time I come back to this LMFAO. "THAT DOG WAS A K9 REEEEEE YOU SHOT HIM REEEEEEE" No one cares, bud. Shut up and live with it, you wife beating loser.

  8. how can he compare shooting a child to an animal….and if he cared so much for the animal why was it outside. pet owners can be quite the Karens

  9. Those dogs were not even charging him. Looks like they were going to run right by him from right to left and he opened up on it for no reason.

  10. Comparing a dog to a child was a bit over the top.
(Officer stated he had a German Sheppard)
I would have said, how bout I shoot your Sheppard. But wouldn't have said shoot a child.

  11. I feel so bad for him because it is his dogs, they're like his kids and one of them got shot. But then he calmed down and understood which also makes me feel bad but at the same time, it was the right thing for him to do for the officer's sake.

  12. Good learning lesson, don't let your emotions control your reactions. It's hard to do and it would suck to have your pet shot no doubt but everyone especially in the world today needs to try a little harder at this including myself. I give this guy a lot of credit for calming down and handling like he did.

  13. The police were negligent in not using pepper spray on the dog, who was a former police dog. The dog didn't deserve to die this way.

  14. Why didn't they tase the dogs or pepper spray? Why immediately resort to killing? And didn't the owner say they came through at least 2 gates onto the private property?

    Only bootlickers could defend this.

  15. When somebody says, why did he shoot it that’s cruel. Like if you had a gun and a unknown dog came at you and you don’t know if it’s going to attack you then what you going to do, run at him😭

  16. I remember i accidentally called 911 when I was trying to turn off my Apple Watch I called them and apologized to them I said I was turning off my Apple Watch and i accidentally slide the sos instead the power button

  17. I have no problem dispensing of bad pets. My neighbors cat was killing all the song birds around my house.
    So I shot his cat.

  18. Having personally been in this situation before (officer side, as animal control/humane society) if i had a handgun, I would have used it.

  19. Where was the charging part I’m confused 😐 sucks but we where not actually there so. I will say either way it sucks. But the cop that shot was not right their and the dogs ran past then he shot. But he did have the right because you don’t know the dog nor if it was headed towards the other cop so it is justified. And all parties handled it like adults.
