  1. I think we need to be careful with this. It's tempting to have robotic police and robotic military, but look at the Star Trek episode "A Taste of Armageddon." When war becomes too clean, too neat and tidy, there's no incentive to avoid it. I think the same applies to policing. You need a human officer who has skin in the game, who understands the offenders and the victims. Not some soulless automaton

I'm not at all excited about this type of innovation, but seeing the way big police department officers are leaving in waves finding smaller pd's to apply to, some getting put in jail and others just plain leaving the job, this will Inevitably be part of the not so far away future and there's absolutely nothing we could do about it

  3. Interior ShotSpotter detection + armed drone that can open doors = almost instant response to active shooter (especially if pre-staged in schools and other sensitive/soft-target facilities like malls, places of worship, etc).

  4. everyone will get chip in the head and if u do something against the law, it will paralise you, anything else will be racist for sure .

  5. Excellent documentary of what the future may be, but as we know, the decisions that the policeman must face in those critical moments cannot be made by softwares. The presence of a human being will always be necessary and "unfortunately" we will continue to be the target and lose our lives. Stay safe.

  8. It’s a slippery slope folks. It may be good in some aspects of police, but to replace the human element completely might not be a great idea. Let me know what you guys are thinking?

  10. It's not that far fetched anymore. The US Military have a lot of drones to replace their aircraft and the British Armed Forces are starting to integrate drones instead of aircraft too. I thinking having more unmanned police work replaced with drones or robots doesn't sound all that daft.

  12. I hope to god that policing never goes down this road to this extent. Policing is built on the idea that you have the consent of the public. I can see things like the whole robocop type deal being an excellent tool for tyrants and despots, as they would need little to no support from the general populace to police them, so long as they've got these robots. I'm not against officers having as many tools at their disposal to do their job well, but I think that if the police lose the consent of the public to the degree that they need to use these robots to do their job safely, then they should not do their job.
