PIT Maneuver Accidentally Disables Police Car

“Lex III: Actioni contrariam semper et æqualem esse reactionem: sive corporum duorum actiones in se mutuo semper esse æquales et in partes contrarias dirigi.”

or

“Law III: To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts.”

Stated differently, the PIT maneuver and “crashing” exist on the same continuum. Thanks, Newton.

[Regarding the other video that went up today, it should never have gone live in the first place. How and why it did is a whole story in and of itself. At some point I’ll share it, as it’s pretty funny.]

  1. This is why the Taurus, Explorer, and Charger will never match the older V8 body on frame cars did, like the Crown Victoria and Caprice. Unibody vehicles, plus cars these days, are too vulnerable.

But seriously, why this unit had the UK siren? It's awkward to hear in the US.

  2. It must be fun wrecking cars when the tax payers pay for them. I bet he wouldn't have done that if it was coming out of his own pocket.

  3. Most american cars made after a certain date have a system that disables everything after a collision, to prevent further damage to the vehicle or possible harm to occupants. Police vehicles are supposed to have that feature removed. So in this situation I think he actually damaged his vehicle to the point it would not function. A PIT isnt supposed to do that. Maybe they need better vehicles or better training?

  4. The officer was not alert enough to avoid " A CRASH " with the chased car but reports that it was a pit maneuver so as not to look like an idiot to his fellow cops. 555

  5. There is an art to doing a pit maneuver, that was called ramming. A PM executed perfectly will not damage the car performing it. It is supposed to stop the back tires from going forward, thereby causing the car to spin. Done right it disorients the pitted driver with little damage to the car performing. However this cop t boned the perp's car.

  6. This is still classified as a pit, unfortunately not the best one I’ve seen.. but he tried. He should’ve just flipped around with him instead.

  7. No pig has ever pulled over to help me. I wouldnt pull over to piss down their throats if their guts were on fire. FTP!!!!!

  8. I think BMW’s can do more ramming and get off fine unlike these cars. In fact I have seen dash cam footage from police chases, they certainly have good protection without any pull bars

  9. 🚨For those wondering/commenting about the siren sound🚨… It’s a Federal Signal Model PA300 ”Hi-Lo” tone activated.
🚓That model is very popular & an extremely reliable unit among cruisers in the US. It’s been around forever… ie Every cruiser I had in the ‘90s up until I retired in 2006 had them installed. 🚔
