NFL Linebacker Nick Moody Attacks Hotel Security Guards in San Diego – Everything Law and Order Blog

Just after 2:00 am on January 3, 2016 then Seattle Seahawks linebacker Nick Moody was at the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel with a group of friends, on their way back to Moody’s two hotel rooms following a night on the town. As the group approached the hotel elevators Moody thought he heard a group of men say “What’s he doing here?”

In reality no one had said anything – and the men were hotel security guards – but Moody interpreted what he thought he had heard as a racist comment and immediately decided to deal with it. With his fists.

When Moody first approached the guards they assumed that he wanted their assistance with his elevator keycard, but they quickly discovered that Moody had other plans.

Following a skirmish that seriously injured one of the guard’s knees, Moody and his party left the hotel. The guards all wrote detailed reports but their reports were missing a key detail: Moody’s identity. All they knew about their assailant is that he “was in the NFL.” Importantly, however, Moody assumed that he had been identified.

The following morning hotel security called the San Diego Police Department to file a report about the incident and an officer was dispatched to the hotel. Just as that officer was wrapping up his investigation he learned that a guest had arrived complaining that a group of security guards had jumped him the night before. Bingo. NFL player identified.

The police officer had already seen video footage clearly showing that the security guards were not at fault, but he went to speak with Moody and took his side of the story.

This video begins just after the officer has finished taking Moody’s statement. It contains body-worn camera footage, security camera footage of the incident itself, audio of a detective’s phone call to Moody, and court records from Moody’s criminal prosecution.

  1. Of course he has Bois! That guy is the male version of Gloria Allred, trying cases with as much publicity as possible! He’s actually a bully. He threatens people who intend to testify against his clients. He will follow, intimidate and occasionally pay off, all the while accepting huge retainers, with no courtroom time. He’s just a high end ambulance chaser.

Look up the book ‘Bad Blood.’ He pushes it just far enough to where he is almost committing a crime. He’s foul!

  2. "Leave him alone, he plays in the NFL" WTF difference does that make? He should be held to a HIGHER standard if he is somehow privileged based upon his overpaid job.

  3. My father was taken to the ground by an nfl player back in the late 80s. Same injury. Torn acl. Required lots of surgery and time off from work. Hs insurance coughed up a pretty some of money. And this security guard will surely get the same.

  4. This Linebacker said whilst playing for the 49ers marijuana was part of his pregame routine along with several of his teammates. He said it was his anti-anxiety medication and kept him from “overthinking stuff” on the field. Hmmm, seems to have gone to his head, no team will touch him now, he's gone to the dogs, serves him right.

  5. i knew there was trouble brewing, them damned whitey stairs in the lobby, post traumatic/genetic slave disorder for sure! "we was wronged 6-10 generations ago, and not knowing about it, it's in my genes" alcohol and illicit drugs seem to bring "total recall" to this fact.
