When you consider that face masks were never about our protection but all about conditioning us for unquestioning compliance, I think you can see that they’re being perfectly consistent.

A lot of people don't know the MANY WAYS the 2A gets VIOLATED that aren't gun related. When they hear ARMS they only think of FIRE arms, NOPE that's only a small fraction of ARMS. There are pokies, bashies, and protecties. ANYTHING DESIGNED PRIMARILY FOR OFFENSE AND OR DEFENSE is an ARM. BODY ARMOR ban is a violation of 2A, knife restrictions are a violation of 2A (blades greater than 7in can't be sold like Bowie Knives, usually spring deployed blades are illegal in some states, and other ban TANTO edges the flat edge near the point instead of the rounded edge), brass knuckle bans are another example. Armored vehicles are another.
Or to make it harder for gun toting wackos to wear bullet proof vests.
I don't agree that this bill should ban body armor sales. However i think comparing that to COVID mask mandates is a false dichotomy. I doubt the every day person expects to walk into a firefight when they go run errands or grab a bite to eat. When COVID was rampant, you had a way higher chance of getting the rona without a mask. You can disagree, but science doesn't care about your opinion.
But we were giving out helmets, bullet proof vests, AK’s, tank killing rockets to civilians in Ukraine but I’m not allowed to have a bullet proof vest??
Ah, the Canadian special! Although oddly enough, some provinces do let civilians buy body armour if they have a firearm license or certain occupations (security).
I wonder if the definition of body armour is as broad in NY as some Canadian provinces (chainsaw pants, slash protection gear, and even sports equipment are often classified as body armour… especially if wearing it outside of a sports field/on the job).
Sounds like New York politicians want their subjects ("citizens") easier to kill.
