Los Angeles, California — On September 2, 2022, at approximately 11:39 PM, South Los Angeles Station deputies responded to the 1800 block of West 108th Street, in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles, regarding a person with a gun call. The informant in the call stated a male was standing in front of the location and was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The male was flashing a gun, which he then concealed in his pocket. The male was later identified as 41-year-old Rushdee Anderson. As the deputies walked toward the location, they detained a male in front of Anderson’s residence, whom they believed to be Anderson.

While speaking with the male, Anderson exited the front door of his residence and retrieved a firearm from a chair, which was located on his front porch. The deputies immediately ordered Anderson to drop the firearm, but Anderson pointed the firearm in their direction, and a deputy- involved shooting occurred. Anderson was struck by gunfire and collapsed near the interior threshold of the front door. Deputies approached Anderson’s home and rendered first aid until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. Anderson was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. A loaded Polymer 80, 9mm, semiautomatic handgun was recovered at the scene. There were no other persons injured during the incident.
