Rockford, Illinois — The Rockford Police Department and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office released multiple videos of the shooting of 51-year-old Bradley Thompkins, by officers after he threatened them with a gun at Hard Rock’s temporary Rockford Casino on May 28th, 2022. Officers were dispatched to the casino around 8:38 p.m. after someone inside the casino called 911 for a report that Thompkins was making threats with a gun in the parking lot. Police say that Thompkins got out of the vehicle and put the gun to his head. The video shows Deputy Tomasz Wysocki asking for backup and trying to convince Thompkins to put down a handgun the man was holding to his own head.

Rockford police officers and Winnebago County deputies arrive while Deputy Wysocki is speaking with Thompkins. As police urged Thompkins to put down the gun, he fires into the air. He slumps his shoulders and puts his hand to his forehead while still holding the gun to his head with his other hand. He then raises the gun, pointing it at officers before they open fire. The state’s attorney’s office believes three officers shot Thompkins before taking him into custody. Two of the officers were from the Rockford Police Department and the third was from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Thompkins was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition. The officers were not hurt.

  1. Bwahaaahaahhaa… another adult child throwing a tantrum… but this is what manlets do… fukkkk'em

  2. This reminds me of the Resorts World Manila incident where some gambling addict went nuts with an AR after losing everything at the casino. Could be the same case here.

  3. They even let him fire a round off and STILL let him talk… I’m sorry but now there’s a stray bullet flying that could’ve hit somebody and you’re still not going to gun this guy down?

  4. What kind of auto insurance claim do you make for your parked vehicle being shot by bullets? The Dodge parked in the handicapped spot definitely took a few into the radiator and engine block. I just wonder if anyone has had their brake lines shot and didn't realize until it was too late? Do officers have someone come by looking for where every shot went and account for every round when something like this is pretty cut and dry self-defense?

  5. No need to shoot 15 times at the guy. So stupid, and quite literally counter productive. He was down after 2 or 3 already, so why pepper him with more when he's not a threat anymore????

  6. 2:48, who the hell took that shot that hit the windshield of the car literally 8 feet away from the guy? You may need to take some shooting lessons before you kill an innocent person the next time you have to fire your weapon….
