Baltimore, Maryland — On May 4, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers with the Baltimore County Police Department responded to a home on Boundbrook Way for the report of a physical domestic disturbance. The 911 caller stated that a man, later identified as Ralph Picarello III, was inside the home throwing items at a family member. Once on scene, officers were informed that Picarello also held a knife to a family member and himself. While officers were inside the home speaking to Picarello, he picked up a knife and carving fork. Officers gave commands to drop the knives, but Picarello did not comply. Picarello then moved quickly towards officers with the knife and carving fork. One officer deployed their taser and Officers D. Manning. and L. Pellegrino discharged their firearms, striking Picarello. Officers rendered aid to Picarello until EMS arrived. Picarello was later pronounced dead on scene. No one else was injured during, the encounter.

I know this will sound awful mean, but his family is going to sleep so much better now that this dill-hole isn't terrorizing them day and night!
I was an addict and I put my husband through some minor stuff but enough for me to feel awful about! I have been clean and sober since 2015 and worked 6 years in D&A treatment. Addicts are selfish, complicated and terrible people that will steal your wallet and help you look for it! Getting sober was the best thing I've ever done and I will speak the truth always about it.
This family is ALL Co-Dependent as heck and they need treatment too! I guarantee there are more that are using in thus family the way they acted. Nevertheless, I know this dude isn't hurting anymore and neither are they.

Everyone knows if you come at a cop with a weapon in a threatening manner, you have a high probability of being shot. Let's face it. A lot of people who get shot are aware of this and want to die by cop.

I just feel bad for the mother having to see that. Nothing the cops could do but dam it hurts hearing her cry knowing that she has just seen her kid be killed.

Decisions decisions,,,look how his choices ended his life and devastated his family. Something people don't realize is that children can be raised in a violent home even when it doesn't seem like a violent home. I dont think that's the case here. But I was raised really rough, called every name in the book and did chores that don't exist for most children or teen now days. I turned out ok but when I get upset at my mother, I think it shows.

Well, all I can say is, the world is a little bit better with a rabid animal like this taking a permanent dirt nap. You know exactly what he was gonna do – he was gonna use his own mother as a hostage at knife point. Anything that wretched deserves this happy ending. Everyone is out of the misery of this rabid animal's life.
While this guy was acting like a piece of shit before the cops got there, as a former addict with 12+ yrs of sobriety, I know I did some pretty irrational things. The officers had no choice but to shoot him but he was clearly fucked in the head probably from methadone withdrawal which I've been through. Overall sad for everyone involved including the officers who had to shoot him

And he's dead. I feel very sad for the mother who he no doubt guilted for years to get his endless drug supply until she maxed out all her cards and blew her life savings. He clearly wasn't interested in recovery, and that's proven by the fact he refused to let officers take him to get his methadone. I can only hope others explain to the mother none of this is her fault, and his inevitable end was an overdose or cops ending him. He chose to die right there.
