Thank God the deceased removed himself from the gene pool. The police department wasted tens of thousands of dollars for diddly-squat. However, the taxpayers still came out ahead since they don't have to pay for his lawyer, pay for the prosection, pay the jurors, pay the court costs, pay for locking him up, pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical related expenses to find out which of his parents yelled at him when he was six months old that set him off decades later, and then support him for decades because he couldn't hold a job for three hours. All in all, it's a win for society.

Well, not low lethal in this case. Although I believe all actions by the officers would have resulted in lead poisoning. The 40 mm round and the dog simply determined the time.
