Law Enforcement Hurt Lockers

Individuals who choose suicide often keep up a “normal” appearance because they’ve hidden a lot of things away inside their own “hurt locker.” Don’t keep your struggles hidden – there are people who care about you and want you to Call For Backup.

Call for Backup is a 501(c)3 serving the first responder community with free, confidential support as well as free to department trainings on stress intervention and suicide prevention.

  2. It was a great honor to work along side those cops and firemen while I was at woodhaven. The hardest thing for us to do in our profession is ask for help. We are suppose to be the strong ones who don’t hurt. We are suppose to be ok after even the bad calls. But truth is we hurt and we have nightmares and the calls follow us forever. We are all human. We should ask for help sooner then when we are not ok anymore. People don’t understand unless they are one of us. Be safe. Ask for help. Your still a man or woman that’s strong even when u need help. Stay safe.

  3. But now we have regulations against people who are suicidal, or who are seeking mental health relief.. and own guns. Do you think these regs. will stop people from seeking help? An answer would be appreciated. My best to you and yours. I'm former Army (69-71), and would never tell anyone about my conflicts. But then, I've been fortunate enough to deal with them.

  4. Those who are defenders carry some heavy burdens. Thank you for your service, officers. Im a veteran. Its a terrible shame when someone tries to go it alone. That never works in battle. You always need your guys that back you up. God bless.

  5. Thank you to those who serve our communities as first responders. There are people in the world who love and pray for you. This video is a stark reminder that people who are not first responders will never truly know your struggles or how to support you right. We try to simply show that we appreciate the struggle you endure for us. God bless you all immensely in the name of Jesus.

  6. At 18 years old the things I was forced to see working as an emt in a big city in wisconsin….some things can ever be unseen. However talking about it will make things better at least for me they did.

  7. Beautiful video, I really appreciate all that cops do for us and this gives us a look at what they feel, times are rough and the cops get a bad rap for everything they do and don't do.

  8. To all the family's out there that have had innocent loved ones killed by police, and then investigating themselves.God bless you.

  9. I know people who have lost friends and loved ones to suicide and so have I and they often are the ones who smile and joke the most. I struggle with anxiety and depression and most people would never guess since I tend to smile and look happy moat of the time and I joke a lot, in a way that helps me cope, seeing others be happy helps me keep being happy and I also do my best to make sure that other people don't have to go through what I do. The way I felt as a kid, like I was all alone in my sadness and anxiety and like nobody could understand, THAT is what I try to fight every day to get rid off for others and THAT is why I am so open with my mental health issues. And when it comes to police, who see the worst of society almost daily, they need to know that getting help is always ok and should even be encouraged.
To all who struggle, you will make it, there are ALWAYS people who care and it is nothing wrong with getting help.
We don't think it's weird that people get help for broken bones and things like cancer, so why should out mental well being be any different?
Take care and never give up!

  10. 1994 lost one of my best friends, best damn platoon sergeant, ARMY RES. A month never goes by without me thinking about you… Wisconsin finest. Rest in peace Officer P.T

  11. I imagine every every officer's family that they have…keeps me a law abiding citizen. After all they are our brothers and sisters and protectors.lets return the favor and protectl them….

  12. People have no idea how many in public safety that commit suicide every day. The area I live in had four last week.

  13. Powerful video. Thanks for sharing. My brother just retired from the force. He has a lot of great stories and a few terrible ones. So proud of him and so glad he made it out with only one "lead lesson" to the arm. Thanks to all who protect and serve.

  14. 😢😢 That was beautiful, It touched my heart because one of my parents had thoughts of harming themselves but reached out and got the help she needed, to all the officers all around the world I thank you for your service to your country and remember that your friends and family are there for you

  15. And here is one for all the sheepdogs among the herd, you protect the weak because you are strong and we thank you for your service!

  16. That is a tragically beautiful song and video 😢. I hope it opens people’s eyes and saves people. The public often forgets what first responders see and can’t unsee. God bless 🙏❤️🇺🇸

  17. I wish I'd knew this organization when I was LEO, I let PTSD get the best of me to resign to being at many times the only Alaska Bush Push Peace officer for in which closes back up was 20 miles away. then switched to patrol in municipality. thanks for the awesome content,im here doing my best to have the good fight with PTSD and trying to keep my head up.

  18. Mike I understand oh, but you have to understand we all do that everyday. We leave our families we travel in a metal box filled with combustible fluid, just to make a buck. Every day is a 50/50.

  19. I would like to thank all of you who run to the places that most run from. I want to believe that that the voice of the majority will ring louder given enough time and the hate that is being spewed forth now will be once again drown out by the love and support for those of you who sacrifice more than the general public will ever know. God bless the men and women who suit up everyday to save, protect and serve this GREAT NATION.

  20. My friend and co-worker is a volunteer fire fighter and just tried to punch his own ticket last week…. It's rough and I wish I had known…. I'd have tried to help…

  21. Wow.
Please don't serve the false condemning ego god, that tells you what you do well doesn't matter, and what you fail at makes you responsible for all that is wrong. Fuck your ego. Seek God and the love and support of your family and fraternity. Because that is what's real, and the reward is being here, doing your best. That's what's real. We too are like you, and you are like us. See it, embrace it, savor it. God love us.
