How Do Cops Catch Speeders

Ever wonder how cops catch speeders with radar or laser. I chat about that a little here. Not exhaustive by any means, but hopefully help you understand it a little bit better.

  1. Don’t say that your goal is to influence people’s behaviour to comply with the law! That’s BS! You’re just doing your job, doing what you were told to do and write as much ticket as possible to meet your quota! You don’t give a damn about people! You hate people, you hate your job, you probably even hate yourself for being a cop! LOL

  2. red light stop 3 car, im at mid and the cop behind me ,green light me and frist car keep go straight like 10 seconds but i got intertcepted ,the cop said my speed is 51,but im 100% know only 40 speed ,what i can do right now?can i cheak the police car camera ?plz tell me!

  3. This LEO actually said it's OK to speed on public roads if you're a race driver and he has front and rear facing radar detectors….

  4. I dread getting pulled over. I get so nervous around cops. I always imagine they’ll ask me to get out of the car because I’m nervous. I also have a hard time staying in the lines. I always feel that I’m about to get pulled over.

  5. Ive gotten one speeding ticket (cited as going 5 over but clocked at 17 over and was going about 25 over before seeing a police car) and one speeding warning (going 14 over), both on the same highway.

  6. I respect you giving us the rundown on the process and everything but, you can all blow me. You basically just admitted that you can pull someone over and ticket them based on your “opinion” wtf kind of evidence is that. I get you guys are “trained” even though I know you guys don’t know what he word trained is but that is pure bullshit. Just like the defendant needs “evidence” the defense needs hard evidence not there 2 eyes and some wits.

  7. Can it clock your speed limit if your on highway and the cop is driving in front of you and your coming behind them both going the same direction?

  8. My ex husband n I raced dragsters. We just built a new engine for my 75 Camaro n I had to pick up my nephews. It was dark n they wanted me to show them what it could do. In the country n no one on the road on a half mile straight away. I kicked it n pegged the speed odometer at 140mph. I sped up around the curve n looked in rear mirror n seen blue lights flashing in the trees. I pulled over n waited n waited then he finally got behind me n come to my window saying; you don't have to ask why I'm stopping you. I was laughing n said no n I don't have to ask why it took you so long. Gave him my license registration n insurance n he comes right back. I just knew he was inpounding my car n taking me in. He said where'd you learn how to drive like that? I told him my husband n I raced n drove dragsters n just built the engine n since nobody was out n my nephews wanted to see the power it had so I let them feel it. Then invited him to the drag strip to watch us locally. He said I'd love that n said I'm giving you a warning ticket bc you've got a clean record n you took that curve at 182mph. Gave me everything back n told me to just keep the speed limit on the roads. He was extremely nice n a very cool State patrol.

  9. Sometimes it's ridiculously unfair.
You travel like 5mph above speed limit then you get a very heavy fine
Also the police hide there speeding cameras

    How fair is that?
    Where is the safety there?

  10. Speed limits on divided highways in the US are way too slow. In contrast though they are too high in populated areas and people don't understand how dangerous speeding can be in those places.

It's also stupid because the lights are designed to be most efficient when following the speed limit. Which is why when you see someone speeding 8/10 chances they are right next to you at the next light.

All it does is increase risk of injury, increase wear and tear on the car, increase the chance of tickets, and increase insurance premiums. For what? An extra 3 minutes?

  11. LMAO so all they do is sit there with that loud noise?? That's why most cops don't pull me over when i'm speeding because they don't bother to have it on.

  12. Sounds to me like a bit of a conflict of interest, cops are taught and instructed to lie to get busts, tickets as revenue and your saying that its all about someone "claiming they estimated your speed?" I mean the radar is a bit more valid but in a business where your interest lies in falsifying evidence to get revenue i would think only fact is as said without a doubt the case of speeding.

  13. It's impossible for speed to be dangerous unless non-speed is equally as dangerous but we never hear about the dangers of driving to slow.

Cops are full of shit! Speeding is a money maker to fund the PD and snakes will have no limit to how low they will go with the shady tactics to write a speeding citation.

Don't see many cops looking to inspire safer driving by simply being in plain sight, or ticketing an idiot with an insecure load dropping shit all over the road.

If someone is driving 35mph on the freeway and has a collision with someone driving 75, then who is at fault and gets a citation? Posted speed is 70-40

I bet everyone immediately says the one who was speeding and a speeding ticket is a bigger fine than impeding traffic.

  14. I just got one for speeding 80km on 50km zone and one for numbers not legible on license plate.

Extra taxes to feed the over paid government employees especially cops, who need to issue tickets to meet their monthly targets.

Beware guys, there are too many hiding under bushes with radar gun, now that taxes are less due to lockdowns, and govt is pushing to bring in more revenue to the city coffers.

Tax slaves till death to feed the entitled govt employees.

  15. Pulling people over and interrogation starts and they want to turn it into a felony stop with all the questioning…how about the Florida cop that speedup to pull the driver going 85 miles an hour on a 70 and he was doing 142 to catch up the police car wind up burning down..fukin bull..

  16. The issue that I have with "speeding" is that the "speed" laws are completely arbitrary. The city I live in has lowered speed limits twice in the last couple years, and there have been several places where they have "improved" the roads, but lowered the speed limits! Guess their coffers weren't full enough, gotta have that sweet revenue enhancement.
I drive a reasonable speed that I can fully control my vehicle and feel that I can operate it safely at… if that's within the bounds of the "speed limit" fine… if not… well then I hope I don't see any law enforcement engaged in revenue enhancement.

  17. Note to self, get pulled over in MI and if Mike pulls me over, Im gonna record it with a title "MIKE THE COP PULLED ME OVER AND GAVE ME A TICKET!"

  18. So maybe someone can answer this since I've been trying to get an answer for years. When I drive home at 1 in the morning on a dark, 4 lane highway there's always a cop car in the median strip area with its lights off waiting for speeders. I usually put the cruise control anywhere from 5-10 mph over 55 and off I go to home and he's never pulled me over. So the question is: can he tell I'm on cruise control versus any other car by using his radar? As in, does the radar ping a car several times and be able to see that I'm doing 62mph each time so there's a good chance I'm on cruise control.

  19. How can ya not like this guy, probably the nicest cop in town.Donut is pretty cool as well.

  20. Good thing this varies by state. As an RF analyst there's always the beamwidth fight at specific ranges. hahaha, good stuff tho, thanks for this.

  21. 01:51: PERFECT way to address a speeder in kid's area. Now I'm NOT saying don't write tickets. I AM saying that the thought of me harming a kid scares me a shartload more than a ticket. Show me a ticket, I'm sleepin' it off. Make me think about my negligence harming a kid… that's sticks with me. Put the responsibility where it belongs and most related problems solve themselves.

  22. Cops using their fun toys to pull people over in Danbury ct . I was on route 7 off of 84 an see a regular cop car and see an under cover Camaro with red stripes that then pull another car over ,then regular cop car come off the side and pulls me over and said he lasers me going 68(which was false because there was traffic infront of me going 50) when on the ticket he put me at 50 going on 45 . The situation was a sting. The whole idea of cops tricking the public to write more tickets is a joke.

  23. That noise would explain why any officer would come off as being in a bad mood. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near other humans after being subjected to that!
