Houston, Texas — Charges have been filed against a suspect shot by a Houston police officer at 10630 Beechnut Street about 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday (May 11). The suspect, Christopher Figueroa, 37, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer in the 482nd State District Court. Officer M. Guerra, who discharged his weapon in the incident, was not injured. He was sworn in as an officer in September 2018 and is assigned to the Westside Patrol Division.

Officers responded to a welfare check/individual in crisis call to the apartment complex and observed Figueroa harming himself with large shards of glass, which he was holding in each hand. The officers asked Figueroa to drop the glass shards (weapons) multiple times so they could get him medical treatment, but Figueroa refused. Figueroa then charged the officers with the weapons, and one officer discharged a duty weapon and struck Figueroa at least one time. Houston Fire Department paramedics were already on scene to give immediate medical aid and transported Figueroa to the hospital.

  1. Mental or drugs, the LEO's did everything they could to save his life including having EMT's on the way before the Taser's and shooting.

  2. that’s how u handles these type of situations. this just proves u don’t always needa shoot 20 times. or u don’t need 20+ cops for 1 person.

  3. 5:45… to skip all that crazy chatter shit.
6:45… it was fun while it lasted.
Good work ofcs, if this guy does make it, it’s off to the looney bin. 🤷‍♂️

  4. I bet if they stood back 100 feet and didnt interact, he would have calmed down in 3 hours. Just standing by to protect others would have been enuf
