A wanted man was arrested Saturday afternoon in the bathroom of a Dallas Starbucks after leading Carrollton police on a chase with his baby son in the back seat, authorities say. The chase began around 3:30 p.m. when bicycle officers spotted some people drinking around a car parked behind the Carrollton Senior Center at Josey Lane and Keller Springs Road, police spokeswoman Jolene DeVito said.

Among them was the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Gerard Perry, who jumped in his car and fled as police were checking his ID. At one point, he steered toward the bicycle officers and nearly ran one of them down, DeVito said. With squad cars in pursuit, police say, Perry fled on surface streets and highways, sometimes going the wrong way, until he reached Central Expressway and Royal Lane, where he abandoned the car in an apartment complex and fled on foot.

Officers found the car with the baby still inside and returned the child to another family member safe and sound. While police searched the area, a witness told them the man they were looking for had fled into a Starbucks near Royal and Abrams Road. Perry was arrested in a bathroom stall on charges of aggravated assault of a police officer, evading arrest and child endangerment, in addition to the original burglary count he was already facing when he fled, DeVito said. He’s being held in the Carrollton Jail, with bail pending.

  1. This is quite literally the worst thing I've seen a father do to a child..
I'm sure there're worse, this is just tops for me.. goddamn..

  2. This man deserves to rot in prison for a very long time. This cop had saved the day for helping the infant out. Even if he didn’t drove like a maniac to evade police he still would have been arrested. What a coward

  3. This is like the most pathetic human being I have seen in a long time. He literally abandoned his child to cower in a corporate bathroom? Holy shit. His fucking two month old child was more courageous.

  4. jesus its a small littering fine that wouldcost you 200 dollers so this dude would rather kill someone or evd up in jail for 10 years thats ridiculous. hearing that baby brought me to tears

  5. Sometimes they deserve to be brutalized within inches of their lives. Let's hope pound-me-in-the-ass prison can make it happen.
